Partnerships Business Manager (West Region)

JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE

  • Drive and manage relationships with 3rd party partners to be mutually profitable and accelerate the growth of FreeStyle Libre product family in Japan by partnering with the various functions in ADC (Abbott Diabetes Care), mainly Commercial, Marketing, Sales and Finance.
  • Key partner for this role is Sanwa. Lead the discussion with Sanwa, align on the strategy and effectively share it with all reps to achieve the sales target agreed for ADC business. This position will be responsible for training and activation of Sanwa reps.
  • Lead the end-to-end BD/partnership process from screening stage, assessment, development, readiness to launch, and all the way to alliance management which includes operations, marketing, commercial execution, and delivering on the financial goals of the partnership.


CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-own the sales target of Sanwa alongside the Head of Partnerships.
  • Develop business plans aligned with ADC and Sanwa, then implement it to deliver on topline revenue growth with Sanwa reps as appropriately engaging ADC reps.
  • Collaborate with Partnership, Marketing, Sales, Commercial teams to plan and execute commercial and marketing plans for Sanwa to accelerate Libre sales and adoption.
  • Understand the dynamics of external partners to predict risk early and identify opportunities to grow ADC. Work with Head of Partnerships and representatives of other functions, take into consideration overall business and sales goals, market opportunities and available resources to create the execution plan. Review progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Others

  • Lead the implementation and execution of business plans with the 3rd party partners and the internal cross functional teams. Lead the training and utilizing of marketing tools as relevant to partnerships to the 3rd party partners and to customers (consumers and HCPs). Tools include communication and detail aid of partner’s solutions, ADC’s product information for partners, etc.
  • For potential and existing partnerships, proactively identify risks and opportunities, assess them and make recommendations to manage and/or materialize them by collaborating with cross-functional diligence teams in the Affiliates as required to.
  • Lead discussions and negotiations with potential partners to structure deals to provide and protect value for ADC.
  • Develop and present business plans with financial models to management (overviews, analysis, and financials of specific partnerships under consideration) and update them whenever necessary.
  • Provide hands-on advice and supports to team members.

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High-energy, self-starter who is assertive, possesses a high degree of self-confidence and intellectual curiosity and exhibits a bias for action and a strong ownership mindset
  • Strong project management skills and successful experience in matrix organizations
  • Excellent communication skills to build mid/long-term relationship with the 3rd party partners, understand the relationships within the partner’s organization and effectively influence to deliver the results
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze data to translate market insight from internal and external sources into powerful insights
  • Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and commercial execution
  • Results and outcomes-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering tangible sales results
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to shape opportunities which are not obvious
  • Ability to think “out of the box”
  • Fluent in Japanese and willing to learn English (Communication with APAC counterpart on as needed basis). Ideally fluent in Japanese and English.
  • Experiences of sales force effectiveness improvement would be an added advantage


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Strong records in sales is MUST
  • Relevant experience in a multinational healthcare company, or experience in management consulting firm or in-house corporate strategy team is a plus
  • Experience of liaising with and negotiating with Health Care Professionals is a plus
