He aha te mahi? What's the role?

Based in Tokyo, the Accounting Manager will lead the financial accounting, treasury, and tax functions for ZIJ and ZFPJ entities, while managing month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

• Prepare financial statements, statutory accounts, and regulatory reports in compliance with local and group requirements.
• Perform monthly and annual variance analysis, providing insights into business performance and financial results.
• Oversee treasury operations, including cash management and cash flow reporting, while ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Manage all tax-related matters, including corporate tax, consumption tax, enterprise tax, BAPA, customs, and duties.
• Ensure accurate and timely tax filings and compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Provide shared service support and financial operations services for the ZGS business.
• Drive accounting and finance transformation projects, focusing on process improvement, standardisation, and operational excellence.
• Manage fixed assets and ensure effective asset control and accounting.
• Maintain strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and compliance standards across all finance activities.
• Coordinate and support internal and external financial and tax audits.
• Oversee trial balance management and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Partner with New Zealand Finance and APAC Finance teams to standardise financial processes, reporting practices, and closing activities.
• Support cross-functional stakeholders and undertake additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned.

We are looking for an individual with finance related degree and minimum 5 years of finance and accounting experience within an international or multinational organisation. You will also fulfill the following:

• Fluency in Japanese and English to liaise with both local and NZ stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Japanese GAAP, with hands-on experience applying accounting standards in a multinational environment.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits and working closely with auditors to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and managing tax compliance requirements.
• Solid understanding of treasury operations, cash flow management, banking systems, and payment processes.
• Experience using ERP and accounting systems, preferably SAP with hands-on knowledge of FI/CO modules.
• Strong systems aptitude with the ability to leverage technology to improve finance processes and controls.
• Strong understanding of accounting best practices, governance, and internal control frameworks.
• Well-organised and methodical, with strong planning and time management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across functions and geographies.
• Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
