Department Overview
"Procurement” is the process of selecting suppliers, purchasing, inspecting, and paying for all goods and services necessary for business operations.
The Procurement & Debt Management Section was newly established in January 2026 within the Ad & Media Company (A&M).
In response to revisions to Rakuten Group-wide procurement regulations and the resulting need to strengthen management and control/check frameworks, this section was formed to consolidate procurement management operations within A&M. The department will design, standardize, and execute A&M’s procurement operations, while also evaluating the introduction of a procurement management system.
By building a robust procurement process, we will contribute to enhancing the credibility and trust of A&M and Rakuten among business partners and society.

Position Details
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for executing and establishing the newly designed procurement management operations within the company. Your role will go beyond simple operational execution; you will proactively participate in improvement activities aimed at business integration across divisions and the implementation of new systems.
Our department works in collaboration with senior managers from each business division and individual company-who are also the stakeholders from the previous process-to realize these new operational workflows.
- We are currently designing the fundamental processes in coordination with relevant procurement operation departments within Rakuten. Even if you do not have prior experience in procurement, you will be working in an environment where you can build new business processes by collaborating with these teams.
- As we are in the initial phase of building this team from the ground up, you will join us as a founding member.
Work Environment
Organizational Structure
- Team Size: The team currently consists of one Vice Manager, two Senior Managers (in concurrent roles), and five concurrent members. We plan to hire approximately one additional person for this role. You will work in collaboration with external partners (contractors) to achieve team goals.

Our management team includes members from diverse backgrounds, such as sales in the manufacturing industry, who have further developed their expertise in management and accounting through business school or similar programs. They are applying their cross-industry experience to take on the challenge of building new operational frameworks. Mandatory Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of professional experience in back-office or operations roles where accuracy is critical.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external partners to drive projects forward.
- A proactive mindset, with a constant focus on identifying challenges and a strong drive to resolve or improve them.
- PC Skills: Proficiency in Excel (data aggregation and analysis using VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.) and PowerPoint (presentation creation).
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Knowledge of procurement, purchasing, or accounting.
- Experience in business process improvement (internal or external).
- Experience in building business workflows or implementing new systems.
