Job Purpose:

To support in delivering and developing Control Risks’ analysis of political, regulatory, security, operational and reputational risks across Northeast Asia, with a primary focus on Japan. The role involves designing, winning and delivering consulting work for clients of GRA’s products/services in Asia Pacific and globally, with focus on Japanese clients.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Delivering high quality enterprise risk management and risk analysis consulting

  • Demonstrate understanding of and business-relevant insight into geopolitical, political, operational and security risks relevant to Japan and Northeast Asia.
  • Demonstrate understanding of ERM methodology, processes and client value.
  • Write high-quality analytical pieces of variable length on a wide range of issues, accessible to a business audience.
  • Respond to client requests for analytical support around political, operational or security risk issues.
  • Support senior colleagues in delivery of complex, client-facing risk consultancy projects

Business development

  • Support scoping, managing and delivering complex consulting engagements.
  • Help develop innovative responses to client requests and imagining and implementing new consultancy opportunities for the business in Asia Pacific and beyond.
  • Regularly support of client engagement by participating in marketing and business development events.
  • Identify and evaluate new methodologies, technologies and organisations which could contribute to our consulting offering, specific to the Japanese client base.

Requirements

Essential
Experience in ERM or risk assessment/mitigation project delivery.

  • Knowledge of current geopolitical, compliance, regulatory and operational risk trends relevant to Japanese clients.
  • At least three years relevant work experience in consulting with a focus on APAC and Japanese clients.
  • Fluency or a high degree of competence in Japanese and English.
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely and authoritatively to tight deadlines while interacting with colleagues and clients in sometimes challenging situations.

Preferred
Understanding of domestic Japanese politics and business trends.
