Corporate Finance

The Houlihan Lokey Corporate Finance business has extensive expertise in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, activist shareholder and takeover defense, and other related advisory services for a broad range of clients. In addition, we have the proven ability to engineer and execute financing solutions that are essential for growth and success and offer access to financing in the public and alternative capital markets through the issuance of debt, equity, or hybrid securities. In EMEA, we work with a wide spectrum of companies, from middle-market privately owned enterprises to large multinational organizations. Scope:

As a Business Associate, you will be a member of the Corporate Finance (CF), reporting to CF Japan COO. You will be assigned to support executing strategic plans and conducting key decision making for Japan’s business management, liaising with global partners as well as
stakeholders, and lead several transversal topics which belong to the CF Japan COO function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand departmental overall strategies and assist in developing and executing strategic business plans that ensure the business growth for Japan

  • Analyze and research market by assembling information about the coverage industries and clients and interpreting them to enhance business development and identify areas for improvements

  • Monitor competitor activity and identify market trends. Analyze potential impact of taking in best practices and transformational changes

  • Lead in optimizing CRM management by cleansing, automating and maintaining prospective client information as well as deal transactions in pipeline to lead business efficiency

  • Coordinate multiple projects to achieve specific business goals within a set timeframe and proactively collaborating with various related teams

  • Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders on all aspects of strategic planning and related business transformational initiatives

Qualifications/Skill Set:

  • Ability to perform complex data analysis, by extracting appropriate data.

  • Proficiency in CRM tools such as Salesforce, building/leveraging reports and dashboards.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects as well as ad-hoc analyses.

  • Experience in database management and data cleaning,

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong research and analytical skills, with an independent and effective problem-solving approach in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to communicate convincingly and effectively with key decision-makers across business lines.

  • Capacity to drive change and manage multiple, varied subjects and projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong coordination and negotiation skills.

  • Advanced team skills essential for effective coordination and negotiation.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in business or related major

  • Native level of Japanese and English (both oral and written)

  • 5+ year of business experience. Work experience with US corporate entities in business development, investment banking or strategic consulting preferred
