Position Overview
We are seeking a Camera Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of automotive camera systems. The role involves customer-facing technical coordination, mechanical design, prototype development, production support, and cross-functional project management. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive product development, mechanical design using CATIA, and strong communication skills to work with customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Coordination & Project Management
Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers regarding automotive camera development projects.
Understand customer requirements and specifications, provide technical proposals, prepare responses (including cost estimates), and manage Q&A activities.
Support customers during prototype, validation, and mass production phases, including business travel when required.
Coordinate with internal departments such as Purchasing, Electrical Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
Monitor project schedules and drive development activities to ensure timely delivery.
Mechanical Design & Engineering
Perform mechanical design and drafting using CATIA.
Prepare and present technical documents, reports, and presentations for both internal and customer use.
Collaborate with the Purchasing team on component selection and supplier discussions.
Conduct design evaluations, prototype assessments, and implement performance improvement measures.
Support design verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
Prototype & Mass Production Support
Support in-house prototype development and assembly activities.
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and register engineering drawings, including:
o Appearance Drawings
o Exploded View Drawings
o Packaging Instruction Drawings
Manage and track prototype camera samples developed internally.
Provide support for manufacturing inspection processes and production line activities.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during pilot and mass production stages.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably in the automotive industry.
Hands-on experience with CATIA for 3D modeling and drawing creation.
Experience in customer-facing technical discussions and project coordination.
Knowledge of BOM management, prototype development, and manufacturing processes.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automotive camera, ADAS, or automotive electronics product development.
Understanding of manufacturing, quality control, and production launch activities.
Experience working with Japanese customers and suppliers.
Japanese language proficiency (business level) and English communication skills.
