As a Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the country finance team and ensure a robust control environment is maintained to safeguard the integrity of the financial information that meets the expectation of our external auditor, regulators, local tax authority and internal stakeholders. You will help drive business outcomes through proactively providing professional financial support and advice to the business. You will cover both ANZ Japan Branch and ANZ Japan Securities from Finance perspective and as a member of the Japan Executive Committee, you will play a crucial role in the leadership and culture strategy for the location.

You are also responsible with the following:

  • Responsible for provision of accurate and timely financial reporting for Group, local regulatory, local statutory and local tax purposes covering both ANZ Japan Branch and ANZ Japan Securities
  • Ensure that there are sufficient controls, governance over accounting and reporting of ANZ in Japan in line with Group policies and local requirements.
  • Driving and supporting business performance in the country to meet country KRA targets (both financial and non-financial) set by Institutional.
  • Be a strategic, trusted advisor to the business in accordance with the Customer Tiering Service Model.
  • Provide finance input proactively in all relevant forums including but not limited to ALCO and ExCo and drive the overall agenda together with other committee members.
  • Embed simplification, standardisation and elimination of activities/processes where appropriate including cross functional.
  • Continue to explore the opportunity and take actions on offshoring suitable local tasks to Manila hub team.
  • As a member of the Japan country leadership team (Executive Committee), contribute to the uplift and improvement of workplace culture and employee proposition through proactive engagement with employees across all functions.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Extensive years of professional experience in Finance roles in Japan financial industry with experience leading teams.
  • CPA or equivalent qualification with experience in Global Financial Institutions’ Japan franchise preferred.
  • Extensive experience in Markets Finance (e.g., Product Control) or Treasury Finance; combined experience in both Banking and Securities businesses locally will be preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, independent and clear thinking and problem solving and project management skill.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead, partner and influence others with proven ability to manage complex discussions with key senior stakeholders in a cross-cultural context (both Japanese and English-speaking stakeholders).
  • Ability to articulate a vision and motivate others to realise objectives.
  • Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations.
