Job Purpose:
The Innovation Associate Brand Manager of Dr.Ci:Labo (DCL) Japan is a key role to accelerate DCL Japan revenue with accountability for development of new product innovation, from agile innovation to new technologies and benefit platforms, as conveyed through its portfolio, packaging and communication in its home market of Japan.. This position reports into the Marketing Manager, DCL JP Innovation within the Skin Health segment team and will work closely with the regional DCL segment team, the DCL Japan Marketing team, R&D and channel leaders. This role is based in Japan.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
The Associate Brand Manager will lead development, planning and execution of both short and long-term business initiatives for Dr. Ci: Labo Japan to deliver revenue and profit targets. Major job duties include development of new product innovation, from development of new technologies and benefit platforms, to brand activation strategy and communication development for HCPs and consumers.
Specifically, the Associate Brand Manager will:
  • Lead projects for Dr. Ci:Labo, with a deep understanding of lead market (Japan) local financial plan, market needs, consumer fundamentals and customer KPIs
    • Develop close partnership with lead market commercial team and cross functional team
    • Gain local insight / market intimacy to design plans to meet Japan operating plan goals
      • Lead business and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and support strategic priorities and deliver the professional innovation pipeline Stream 1-4 for Dr. Ci:Labo
      • Pioneer use of big data to generate powerful consumer insights for innovation
      • Co-create commercial innovation for Dr. Ci:Labo e.g. claims innovation, limited editions, science/HCP content
      • Lead specific communication campaigns development for the Japan lead market eco-system,
    • Lead project teams, partnering w/ R&D, supply chain, PMO, CBI, Packaging and Design to conceptualize, research, develop and deliver Japan initiatives, and deploying relevant innovation to ex-Japan markets
    • Partner with the local team to develop forecasts, pricing and marketing recommendations to deliver new products to market and deliver successful innovation reviews with Japan Customers
    • Lead analysis and execution of local P&L initiatives such as CIP / Resiting, RGM, portfolio and pricing recommendations for Japan market
    • Assist in deployment of proven playbooks for Dr. Ci:Labo in and out of Japan
The Associate Brand Manager Skin Health will share ownership of the Dr. Ci:Labo Japan P&L, equity and innovation goals, with a strong working knowledge of local business dynamics and shared ownership of activities that drive monthly business performance (NTS and Share). He/she will operate with agility, curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset to innovate, learn and champion best practices in partnership with cross functional partners and marketing counterparts in the Global teams, AP region, locally.

Qualifications
• A BA degree is required. Master's in business or marketing specialization preferred.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in setting a vision and executing in a similar integrated brand leadership role within a consumer-packaged goods organization, preferably with a breadth of functional and/or industry experience is required. Beauty experience is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Japanese is required.
Knowledge/ Skills
• Experience marketing in a digital world, (i.e., social media, e-commerce, analytics, on-line) and is required.
• Experience leading in a matrix environment and cross functional teams is required.
• Demonstrated financial acumen in making effective business decisions is required.
• Demonstrated skill in executing and delivering brand / marketing leadership in a similar integrated brand leadership role is required.
• Experience in successful partnership with R&D organizations to develop innovative products supported by specific and relevant brand messaging is required.
• Proven success in developing strategic agency partnerships to build long term brand health and business
