Claris International Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Apple Inc., supports business transformation and digital transformation across a wide range of organizations—including enterprises, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and government agencies—through Claris FileMaker, its low-code development platform.
We are seeking a Sales Engineer to help drive the continued growth of the Claris business in Japan. In this role, you will provide technical expertise to customers and partners, clearly communicate the value of Claris FileMaker, and lead the technical aspects of adoption, enablement, and expansion.

Description

Claris’ low-code development platform enables organizations to quickly turn ideas from the field into working solutions and supports business transformation across teams and industries.
As a Sales Engineer at Claris, you will communicate the technical value of Claris to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, while helping accelerate the growth of the Claris business in the Japanese market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support, product explanations, and solution proposals to Claris partners and new software development vendors
- Proposing effective ways to use Claris FileMaker based on customer challenges, including demonstrations and technical Q&A
- Planning and managing events, training programs, and webinars for Claris partners and users
- Planning and maintaining manuals, technical documentation, learning content, and certification or testing programs related to Claris FileMaker products
- Promoting Claris FileMaker in collaboration with internal Apple teams, including education and enterprise sales organizations
- Creating and publishing FileMaker platform-related documentation based on government and industry security guidelines
- Developing custom applications, sample apps, and demo environments using Claris products
- Promoting application development that leverages AI technologies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, and Google Gemini
- Participating in pre-launch and post-launch activities for new products and features
- Complying with all applicable Apple and Claris business conduct, confidentiality, ethics, and compliance policies
Claris FileMaker is a low-code development platform that enables people who understand business challenges firsthand to build and improve their own business applications. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in helping customers understand this potential and turn it into real business transformation.
You will work with customers across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, education, government, retail, and services. Your role will go beyond product explanation. You will be involved in understanding business challenges, making technical proposals, developing demos, supporting implementation, and enabling partners.
As AI-powered business application development continues to accelerate, you will also have the opportunity to propose new solutions that combine FileMaker with generative AI, semantic search, and automation technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing applications using Claris FileMaker
Experience developing or proposing business systems, databases, web applications, or mobile applications
Experience as a presales engineer, solution engineer, or technical consultant
Experience providing technical support, training, or community engagement for partner companies or development vendors
Knowledge of generative AI, API integration, cloud services, and security
Experience reading technical documentation in English and communicating with internal teams in English

Minimum Qualifications

Strong Japanese and English communication skills, with the ability to conduct product demonstrations and handle technical Q&A smoothly at Claris partner and user events
Fundamental knowledge of databases, SQL, and business application development
Ability to understand customer and partner challenges and propose solutions from a technical perspective
Flexibility to travel across Japan for presales activities, including customer and partner visits
Ability to work proactively with internal and external stakeholders to drive events, training programs, and technical documentation initiatives
Strong interest in and willingness to learn new technologies, especially AI and low-code development
