Routing and Switching/Ethernet Business Development leadership role focused on expanding Ciena’s presence within Softbank and the broader Japan market. This position drives go-to-market execution, customer engagement, partner alignment, and pipeline growth for Routing and Switching/Ethernet networking solutions and associated software offerings. Success is measured through opportunity creation, business incubation, and achievement of orders and margin objectives across Japan.
How you will make an impact:
Develop and execute a business development plan to grow Routing and Switching/Ethernet networking opportunities within Softbank and associated target accounts.
Establish and manage a qualified pipeline with baseline and upside opportunities, including probability, valuation, and risk tracking for the current fiscal year.
Create and drive a go-to-market plan for Routing and Switching/Ethernet business incubation with defined growth objectives.
Lead engagement strategies, market analysis, and opportunity identification across key Routing and Switching/Ethernet spending organizations within the Softbank Group.
Build customer and partner relationships to position Ciena Routing and Switching/Ethernet solutions in service provider and enterprise networks.
Advocate priority opportunities and align cross-functional teams across APJ and global organizations to advance strategic initiatives.
Achieve Routing and Switching/Ethernet orders and margin targets for APJ.
The must haves:
Education: Engineering degree or equivalent.
Experience: 10+ years of telecommunications industry experience, including prior Tier 1 carrier experience.
Japanese and English language proficiency.
Proven track record of selling Routing and Switching/Ethernet solutions into Softbank.
Proven track record of carrying and exceeding Routing and Switching/Ethernet sales quotas and driving others to achieve sales objectives.
Nice to haves:
Application of current Routing and Switching/Ethernet technologies and trends, including MEF Ethernet services, IP/Ethernet transport architectures, and IP/Ethernet-optical networking technologies.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
Experience assessing market conditions, developing pipelines and plans, and executing against business objectives.
Ability to discuss next-generation Routing and Switching/Ethernet networking technologies, including G.8032, ITU and IETF OAM technologies, MPLS-TP, BGP, Segment Routing, and IP/Ethernet-optical convergence with both technical and business audiences.
Effective communication across executive, operational, and technical audiences.
Team-building capabilities with demonstrated direct and indirect influence.
Process management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
