Job Description

We are looking for a Content Manager, Japan/China to accelerate the performance of our content programs and channels in APAC with a focus across two key markets - China and Japan. This role will work to drive improvements to help more entrepreneurs across the region discover how Shopify is right for them.

You will be the steward of the Shopify voice for Japanese and Chinese speaking audiences and a crucial component of our revenue strategy for these markets. You are the point person for offering advice on content governance and market approach, while ensuring brand integrity and consistency across our global team and multiple content pipelines. You will work with a team that is passionate about delivering on highly visible campaigns and processes that contribute to an exceptional merchant and partner experience.

  • Develop and implement a content strategy for the APAC region, with a focus on the Japanese and Chinese markets
  • Collaborate with regional marketing teams to ensure content is aligned with our brand voice, incorporates local nuances, and supports the overall company goals and initiatives in the APAC region
  • Defining the content strategy for Japan and China in close collaboration with regional and content stakeholders
  • Understanding our audience and markets, responsible for understanding our merchant needs and the industry landscape desk research, interviews, merchant surveys, and commissioning proprietary research. You’ll be an expert at turning that data into original insight and actionable recommendations that improve the performance of our content programs
  • Building full-funnel content journeys for our priority campaigns and initiatives. You’ll work with internal stakeholders and manage external agencies — including writers, editors, producers, designers and marketers — to develop unique and memorable content that pushes creative boundaries and provides deep value to our audience.
  • You’ll work closely with campaign managers to up-level the performance of regional and global campaigns through content strategy, getting buy-in from stakeholders on your ideas, then working with both global and regional teams to make it all happen. You will also be responsible for reporting on the impact of the work your team does, and using those insights to optimize content performance.
  • Manage editorial calendars and report regularly on the status of projects to key stakeholders and internal customers
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of content to inform future strategy and initiatives in the APAC region.
  • Lead end-to-end management of translation and localization processes, establishing streamlined workflows

Qualifications

  • Experience in content strategy and marketing within a revenue focused marketing team in a B2B Software SAAS sales environment
  • Native fluency and excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and Simplified Chinese
  • Experience in Content Writing/Editing, Localization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience working with marketing agencies
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong collaboration skills with both internal and external teams
  • Experience with go-to-market and journey optimization
  • Knowledge and understanding of full funnel and account based marketing
  • Experience leveraging data to tell a compelling user experience story, track conversion rates across the funnel by campaign and by tactic,
  • Continual improvement mindset
