Corrosion & Structural Specialist

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Corrosion & Structural Specialist I to join our vehicle sustainment team in Yokota, Japan The selected candidate will provide maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform detailed damage assessments on frames, hulls, and bodies following accidents or wear. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to resolve complex alignment issues.
• Machine Shop Operations: Directly operate heavy machine shop equipment—including engine lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and power saws—to fabricate custom metallic/non-metallic parts, brackets, and worn components.
• Corrosion Mitigation & Refinishing: Diagnose active corrosion, execute surface prep (chemical wash, media blasting, scraping), and apply high-performance primers, naval-grade sealants, and spec protective topcoats.
• Hardware & Glass Overhaul: Replace and fit curved laminated safety glass/Plexiglas. Service body hardware, restraint systems, and door/window mechanisms.
• Safety, Compliance & Leadership: Enforce hazardous waste management protocols for toxic materials, maintain detailed maintenance logs, inspect work quality, and mentor junior technicians.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a Passport valid for at least one year beyond the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Willingness to travel to various US or OCONUS locations.
  

Clearance Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
• Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
• Must be able to work in high noise areas.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
• Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
