What will you be doing at DeepL?

The Director, Marketing Japan/Korea at DeepL is responsible for the overall marketing strategy and its execution for our second largest market. A seasoned professional with deep expertise in B2B marketing, particularly in the SaaS space, the qualified candidate will report to the VP of Global Demand Generation and will lead a regional team of marketing professionals. They will be charged with stewardship of the DeepL brand in Japan, as well as creating the conditions for commercial success, both on the sales assisted and self-service fronts. The right candidate will possess a strong background in planning and executing regional marketing plans, with a data-driven approach.

Your Responsibilities

    • Regional GTM Strategy: Align with regional peers in Go-to-Market (Sales/Sales strategy, Sales Development, Customer Success) to establish a regional go to market strategy including segmentation and audience/persona targeting, program mix, etc.

    • Messaging and thought leadership: Adapt and localise global messaging, develop regional thought leadership platforms in conjunction with global Comms leadership team

    • Team leadership: Inspire and develop a team of regional marketers, and foster a culture of high performance

    • Budget management: Forecast budget requirements and track expenditure closely to ensure we operate within an acceptable margin to the up/downside

    • Cross functional alignment: Collaborate with and influence stakeholders within Marketing, Sales and Product teams in HQ and advocate for the needs of the Japanese team accordingly

    • Metrics and impact: Set clear and measurable targets, analyze regional target attainment for brand, web, leads/MQL, pipeline and revenue to quantify the team’s impact on business objectives and modify strategies accordingly


What We Look For

    • Ideally 15+ years of experience in marketing, preferably within world-class, high-growth B2B SaaS organizations, including at least 5 years leading a team of 3+ regional marketers

    • Strong cross-functional, collaborative mindset, and proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace

    • Data-driven and focused on business impact with the ability to drive strong return on marketing investments

    • Excellent project management skills and the ability to stay organized in high-pressure situations

    • Practical and proactive attitude with a humble approach, demonstrating proficiency in accomplishing tasks efficiently

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven record of developing teams and building relationships with key stakeholders across the organization

    • Customer-obsessed mindset, ability to build relationships at senior levels with customers, understand the needs of Japanese customers, etc.
