Early Career Program, Associate Music Coordinator Japan

Spotify is looking for a team member to join the Japan music team under the Early Career Program. This program is an immersive 18-month program that brings early career talent in Japan to Spotify to learn about the audio business.
The role is about assisting team members with day-to-day tasks, mainly supporting the Editors identify and curate first rate music - and help program experiences for a multitude of our moods, moments, and genres, demonstrate a passion for analytics, and will have your ear to the ground in the music community, focusing mainly on Japanese audience. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.

What You’ll Do

  • Understand and gain insight of consumer behaviors by analyzing data and analytics
  • Support the Editors identify and substantiate playlist hypothesis for Japan (i.e. the perfect music for Hanami, the best songs for concentration or the hottest new pop tracks).
  • Support Editors curate and maintain a large number of playlists in a variety of genres for different audiences, moods and moments – for Japan.
  • Support the daily content programming and curation for Music within Spotify.

Who You Are

  • With a minimum of 2+ years’ of experience of working in music related field in Japan market
  • You are a passionate expert when it comes to knowledge of Japanese artists, festivals, history, newcomers, influencers – basically, everything to do with the lifestyle and pop culture in Japan including Anime, Vocaloid, gaming music to name a few.
  • You possess a business level of written and spoken Japanese and English.
  • You have a keen sense of what makes music appropriate for different situations, and an ability to identify great songs/shows to fit.
  • Ability to work with and respond to data and analytics.
  • Having strong passion for, and deep understanding of music from across all genres and styles.
  • Strong propensity to take initiative and thrive on change.
  • You care about attention to detail and organization, have a team spirit, strong work ethic, and a friendly, warm attitude.
