About the role:
You will work as a Senior Electrical Project Engineer for the Electrical System & Project Engineering Region 1 Team, part of the RWE Renewables’ Offshore Wind Engineering Department. You will focus on the electrical engineering tasks regarding the Onshore Substations of our development and construction projects in Japan.

Your Future Plans:

  • Ensuring a robust through life design supporting on all aspects of the electrical components (Transformers, switch gear, protection) and the overall electrical system design aspects of an onshore substation
  • Development, drafting of specifications for tenders. Support the technical negotiations with selected suppliers
  • Create conceptual designs and SLDs of substations
  • Preparing technical documents for grid applications
  • Focus on interface topics and auxiliary systems
  • Support the Electrical Lead Engineer with the coordination and integration of the department European Electrical Engineers with their focus on Components, Power System Analysis and SCADA systems
  • Support Grid Application process
  • Support supplier pre-qualifications and audits
  • Technical management of electrical works on project construction sites
  • Factory and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Conduct or supervise internal and external research projects


Your profile:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with high voltage substations for power plants or for the transmission system operator in Japan
  • Ideally you are coming from an EPCI-contractor or manufacturer of High Voltage Components or a Transmission System Operator and you have worked in the same role through the negotiation and construction phases of a high voltage substation project
  • Degree of university or of university of applied sciences in electrical power engineering
  • Very good knowledge of the relevant international (IEC) and Japanese standards (JEC)
  • Experience with the Grid Application process
  • Good Knowledge of the electrical plant including switchgear, power transformers, protection, LV and auxiliary systems (advantageous: with one of these topics as a specialists)
  • Basic experience with Power System Analysis tools for Power Flow simulation (e.g. Power Factory, PSSE)
  • Experience of specification drafting as well as liaising and negotiating with suppliers
  • Basic experience with AutoCad would be advantageous
  • Fluent in English and Japanese (speaking and writing)
  • Enhanced communication and coordination skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
