Wärtsilä is looking for a competent Engineer, Spare Parts and Bearings This is a permanent opportunity, and its preferred location is Toyama, Japan.

As an Engineer, Spare Parts and Bearings, you will proactively take ownership of responsibilities within the Engineering function and contribute to cross-functional activities where Engineering can add value, supporting the continued growth and strengthening of the Shaft Line Solutions business

What will you be doing?
As an Engineer, Spare Parts and Bearing, your work will focus on the following responsibilities

  • Developing cost reduction initiatives for existing products and coordinating internally with relevant stakeholders.
  • Designing bearing products for naval vessels.
  • Creating production drawings for aftermarket products and components.
  • Managing customer relations by communicating with customers on-site or remotely, as needed, to clarify technical issues related to individual projects and general matters.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address day-to-day engineering needs and challenges.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using CAD software and other design tools, including both 2D and 3D applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Fluent Proficiency in written and spoken Japanese.
  • Basic Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Manufacturing experience with a fundamental understanding of metal machining processes, preferably including turning, grinding, and other machining methods related to our products.
  • Experience leading Quality Control activities, including the ability to assess current conditions, identify issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Experience in cost estimation and cost calculation is considered an advantage.
  • Experience leading or participating in development projects is considered an advantage.
