About the role

Our mining team is currently seeking a Finance Specialist to join them based at the Roy Hill mine. Reporting to the Manager Commercial Business Partner, you will play a vital role in driving cost optimisation, and financial decision-making within our iron ore mining operations. This newly created role will suit a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who is able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proven expertise in cost productivity, mobile equipment maintenance costs, budgeting, and forecasting cycles within the mining or heavy manufacturing industries will further ensure your success in this role.

Duties

  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed operating and capital expenditure budgets and forecasts, and collaborate with mine operations teams and supporting functions to ensure alignment and accuracy
  • Conduct expenditure analysis against budgets, pinpoint variances, and their causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Focus on mobile equipment maintenance costs for savings, and provide timely, insightful reports on operational and financial performance to stakeholders
  • Partner with mine site teams and Perth based supporting functions, including asset management, procurement, commercial and supply chain, to provide financial guidance and support
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement in financial data capture, reporting, and analysis
  • Coach key stakeholders to build business and commercial acumen to improve cost management

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related discipline – CPA or CA preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in a cost-centric role within the mining or heavy manufacturing sectors
  • Advanced proficiency in relevant software, including ERP systems (SAP preferred), financial modelling tools, and Microsoft Excel
  • Highly analytical approach with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and present insights clearly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Experience in mobile equipment maintenance costing and analysis in an open-pit mining environment, coupled with an understanding of FIFO logistics, costs and challenges will be well regarded
