As an Executive Director working in the Asia Pacific Operations organisation, you will lead a team of highly effective finance professionals within our J.P. Morgan Asset Management Japan business. You will develop and manage the oversight and governance process across on our Key Fund and Investment Accounting vendors for the Japan business and you will oversees approximately 10 direct reports. Key to your success will be both your technical skills and the ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders within Japan as well as across the overall Asia Pacific Operations organisation.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for Fee Billing, Financial Reporting, on boarding of new clients, restructures, product and fund life cycle events, as well as all related services delivered by our outsourced vendors in Japan as well as overseas locations for offshored processes
  • Engage in communicating with senior stakeholder and proactive relationship management with internal and/or external parties
  • Influence and drive change incorporating business and client requirement and drive strategic insight and managerial participation with Leadership Teams across APAC
  • Nurture the team with technical expertise especially in the area of products, operational processes and vendor management and provide timely performance management of the team including goal setting, setting direction and coaching of individual
  • Take a lead role in all service delivery initiatives and provide a strong focus around automation utilizing various tools to enhance operational efficiency
  • Conduct analysis of query trends, root cause analysis and deep dives to improve client experience and remove operational roadblocks
  • Monitor market developments in different markets and understand how regulations impact operational processes and the funds
  • Design, develop and coordinate the oversight and governance framework by updating policies and procedures to comply with local regulations and implementing and monitoring internal controls to ensure compliance
  • Act as a Relationship Manager for Japanese trust banks, vendors and regulators and ensure close collaboration with our Middle Office teams, Trust Banks, Compliance, Legal and various Internal teams
  • Analyse root-cause of recurring issues through regular review of metrics, assist in developing programmes for service enhancements arising from these reviews, and assist in Fund reviews and ad-hoc global projects implementation across the wider business
  • Review operational processes to identify areas for enhancement and identify and escalate key risks and participate in resolution

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree holder in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines
  • At least 10 years’ experience in asset management industry
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of fund accounting processes and deliverables
  • Proven high performance track record within operational teams
  • Strong leadership with people management experience
  • Effective communication skills in both English and Japanese
  • Experience in delivering strategic projects with impactful results
  • Ability to demonstrate high risk awareness, operational control, problem solving and process improvement experience
  • Experience working within a fast paced environment where accuracy is critical

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Strong data management skills will be considered to be an advantage
  • Experience with both local and international asset management firms
