About the role
Seize the opportunity to join our technical services team as a Geologist Mine Geology, based at the Roy Hill mine.
Under the guidance of the Superintendent Mine Geology, you'll be an essential member of a diverse team, applying your skills and geological support to maximise the extraction and quality grade recovery of the ore body. In addition to the duties below, this broad and dynamic role provides an opportunity to gain exposure to other facets of mining through daily collaboration and interaction with the planning, scheduling, execution, and mine production teams.
The role also has significant exposure to key project development work, as Roy Hill strives to harness and apply industry leading technology to influence future mining practices – all to maximise the profitable extraction of resources in a safe and effective manner.

Duties
- Engage in all grade control activities completed by the mine geology team
- Generate ‘grade control blockouts’ to a high standard, maximising the value of the Roy Hill asset while respecting the product specifications of the Roy Hill Project
- Supervise the mining of multiple ore zones to minimise dilution and maximise ore recovery
- Geological Model validation/ interrogation against field data to outline risk, undertaking in-pit inspections to determine any physical (material type) or grade deviation from scheduled/planned feed
- Ensure that all geological information available is utilised by the business, leveraging industry leading software and data science to guide production regarding grade, tonnage, and geological risk variables
Skills and experience
- An accredited Degree in Geology – experience in an open pit mine geologist position preferred
- A demonstrated passion for geology and a desire to be involved in a technologically advanced project
- Current WA C class manual driver’s license
- Experience with industry standard geological software packages
- Experience in geotechnical hazard management and reporting (desirable)
