Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off - on site at Carrapateena
Reporting to: Senior - Mine Geologist
Employment Type: Permanent

About The Role:

In the role ‘Geologist - Mining’ you will be responsible for working within a team of geologists and technicians to execute:

  • All requirements of key mine geology functions including sampling, mapping, reconciliation, input to depletion, investigation of, and reporting on, variances, inclusive of grade, volume, and deleterious elements
  • Grade and volume input and communication to Processing – requiring liaison with Cave Flow and Mine Planning functions
  • Completion of lithological and geotechnical (where applicable) logging diamond drill core.
  • Develop and improve understanding and knowledge to allow timely 2D/3D geological interpretations for triangulations, block models and grade interpolation.
  • Actively participate in the identification of operationally identifiable geological controls on mineralisation within the Carrapateena Deposit, utilising all forms of available geological data.
  • Timely design, scheduling, implementation, supervision, and reporting associated with diamond drilling programs - highlighting opportunities or downside risk.
  • Safely collect, synthesise and maintain up to date production grade control and diamond drilling information and its transfer into the 3D environment.
  • Update and maintain quality data in the geology database, including QAQC reports and lab inspections.
  • Ensure that operational continuity is maintained underground and with the underground drill contractor by providing quality and timely geological services.
  • Demonstrate proactive and timely management of all project tasking assigned with strict adherence to delivery timelines for completed project work and where necessary summary documentation of project tasking outcomes.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing improvements of Mine Geology systems in line with the OZ Minerals strategy.

About You:

Ideally you will have:

• Extensive experience in underground hard rock Geology
• Exposure to IOCG style orebodies or base metal deposits
• Demonstrated ability to deliver and drive safe geology practices
• Experience using geology related software inclusive of:

  • Geobank

  • PitRam/MineMarket

  • Vulcan

  • Leapfrog Geo & Central

  • Deswik

• Undergraduate qualifications in earth sciences (geology, geophysics)
