Head of Tokyo Sales
Position Overview
Lead the Tokyo Sales Department, covering customers primarily in Tokyo’s 23 wards, with a broader territory spanning the greater Tokyo area, Hokkaido, Tohoku and Shizuoka Prefecture east of the Oi River.
The department’s sales team comprises 10 field sales representatives and one inside sales representative, led by the department head.
The role focuses on driving sales performance, setting team direction and developing employees, with an approximate activity split of 90% management and 10% direct sales activities.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and support business development across the assigned territory.
Manage departmental performance to achieve the Sales Division’s objectives.
Lead monthly one-to-one meetings and weekly team meetings to review progress and support team and individual target achievement.
Set the team’s direction, including priority projects, target customers and customer engagement strategies.
Develop individual capabilities through coaching and constructive feedback.
Accompany sales representatives on customer visits.
Work with senior management and product managers to resolve issues and make timely decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
At least five years of hands-on sales experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
Previous experience managing multiple direct reports, including employee development and performance appraisals.
Language Requirements
Japanese: Business-level proficiency or above, equivalent to JLPT N1 or higher.
English: Business-level proficiency or above, with a TOEIC score of 750 or higher.
Preferred age range stated in the original specification: Candidates in their 30s through approximately age 55.
