Import and Logistics Lead, Assistant Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Ensure stable and on time import and logistics operation of Chemicals, live materials, Biosolution and Pharma products from overseas to warehouses in Japan. Collaborates with external freight forwarders, warehouses and internal stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

All duties performed will emphasize import products on time at expected cost and quality.

Import operation:

  • Responsible to track import logistics (ocean and air) from overseas suppliers (3rd parties and affiliates), make the custom clearance and deliver to warehouses in Japan.
  • Cooperate with Planners when unexpected issue occurs like flight delays or issues at custom clearance to solve or minimize business impact. Also negotiate with supplier to solve the issues and for preventive actions.
  • Monitor delivery schedule to import on time to avoid inventory shortage.
  • Make import plan and provide status of orders to Planners and stakeholders
  • Check import documentation to ensure compliance to comply for import custom clearance and for international transportation.
  • Look for Duty free opportunity when launching new product or new agreement effective.
  • Responsible Export operation (Booking, Inland transportation arrangement) of one export material.
  • Ensure SAP posting of import materials, Triangle sales, Export material.
  • Contract management with freight forwarders.

Logistics operation:

  • Contract management of warehouses
  • Inventory transfer:
    • Monthly, based on the latest sales forecast, check for over/shortages by warehouse and define product allocation per warehouse
    • Coordinate delivery date with receiving warehouse, request large vehicle arrangement from shipping warehouse, SAP input(STO), send documents to each warehouse by e-mail
    • SAP input (MIGO)
  • Inventory control:
    • physical inventory check (All tollers and WH’s) once a year
    • Reconcile SAP inventory with inventory reports from warehouse in Excel
    • Calculate safety stock at warehouse level considering actual inventory, 3 months forecast, etc.
  • Request quotation for new products to be stored
  • Monthly meeting with key warehouse
  • Report to APAC for WH information (once a year)

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years Import and logistics (Ocean/Air/land) experience especially in Food, chemical, pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
  • 3 years Warehouse management experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the colleagues and stakeholders.
  • INCOTERMS knowledge
  • Proficiency on MS Office (Excel (pivot, Vlookup), PowerPoint, Word).
  • Fluency in Japanese essential.
  • Business English communication skill in both written and verbal communication.
  • Required SAP experience.
