Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Translator and Medical Liaison onboard a cruise ship. The ideal candidate will be fluent in both Japanese and English, proficient in written and verbal communication, and possess a background in the medical field. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to provide translation services in medical contexts.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide translation services between Japanese and English for passengers and crew members.
2. Assist with onboard medical consultations and translate medical information between patients and medical staff.
3. Facilitate communication between Japanese-speaking passengers and English-speaking crew members.
4. Translate written materials, including signage, announcements, and medical documents.
5. Serve as a cultural interpreter, helping to bridge language and cultural gaps between passengers and crew.
6. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions, especially regarding medical matters.
7. Collaborate with onboard medical team to ensure accurate communication and understanding of medical conditions and treatments.
8. Assist with any additional translation or liaison duties as needed.

Requirements:

1. Fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
2. Professional experience as a translator or interpreter, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.
3. Background in the medical field, such as nursing, medical assisting, or related field, preferred.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
5. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
6. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing schedules and responsibilities.
7. Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
8. Medical clearance or willingness to undergo a medical examination prior to boarding.
