Join the team that is responsible for financial oversight of their legal entity, and is tasked with ensuring that a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the Legal Entity financials and regulatory reporting of the firm.

As a Legal Entity Controller - Associate within the Legal Entity Control team, you will be responsible for local regulatory reporting as well as monthly closing processes. You will have many opportunities to expand your tasks and responsibilities. There is also a potential opportunity for you to work in our offices in other countries in a few years.

Job responsibilities

  • Approve accounting entries
  • Ensure the overall integrity of financial statements under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Japan GAAP
  • Prepare local regulatory reports
  • Support ad hoc queries and requests from management, auditors or regulators
  • Coordinate with various teams such as Product Controllers, Financial Controllers, Business Managers, and Operations, etc.
  • Keep track of assigned business results for booking accuracy
  • Monitor currency hedge processes
  • Support new business initiatives
  • Seek better control procedures which can be justified by cost/benefit analysis

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting and/or finance experience
  • Native level Japanese and basic level English

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understanding of financial products such as shorting, margin trade, security borrowing /lending, options, swap, forwards and futures, etc.
  • GAAP knowledge (Japan GAAP and/or US GAAP)
  • Regulatory reporting knowledge
  • J-CPA, CFA and/or FRM holders are plus
