Job Description for Packaging Japan MDM

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) is looking for a Japan Packaging Market Development Manager who has strategic thinking, customer centricity and highly motivated spirit. This position will be responsible for driving segment strategy execution and value growth for P&SP packaging business in Japan market with a growth mindset and sustainability focus. Such a role will also take on the brand owner engagement responsibility to build strong alliance and generate pulling power for Dow Packaging solution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate MMT strategy to regional execution plan and lead the implementation in close collaboration with local sales and technical team
  • Liaison with brand owners to understand true needs on sustainability and sell the value of Dow sustainability solutions including but not limited to D4R, PCR, bio-material and advanced recycling. Drive execution of such projects through collaboration with value chain partners and seek joint branding promotion to enhance Dow position as sustainability leader
  • Work to understand relevant market sizing, value chain dynamics, competitive intelligence, policy trend to create an effective growth plan
  • Identify unmet needs in local market, provide innovation ideas to MMTs to initiate new development project
  • Work with MMT and marcom team to define communication plan with value chain partners. Leverage digital channel and tools to advocate sustainability message. Serve as the focal person for subregion specific communication project such as tradeshow, seminar, conference speaker, etc.
  • Lead certain growth project and serve as APAC focal at MMT request
  • Lead Packaging Innovation Award relevant activities within the subregion

  • Result Driven: Ability to drive projects to results quickly, with detailed planning and execution, thinking through steps and actions needed for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Corporate Entrepreneurship: Maintain innate curiosity and willing to explore unknown. Manage through ambiguity and drive execution with determination and resilience.
  • Marketing Fundamentals: understand marketing 4P, segmentation, targeting and positioning principles of marketing. Can apply in real work.
  • Sustainability Fundamentals: understand fundamental concept of various elements in sustainability and can direct discussion and dig insights
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, ability to work and develop productive relationships with other functions, internal and external stakeholders and partners.

Qualifications:

  • >5 years sales, marketing, technical roles with track record of project and market development delivery
  • Bachelor degree required, MBA a plus
  • Experience in packaging industry, good connection with brand owners
  • Language: Fluent in both written and oral English
  • Location: Tokyo

This position does not offer relocation assistance.
