Position Overview:

As the People Partner for APAC GTM and Japan Office at Zendesk, you play a pivotal role in managing and guiding Human Resource-related matters for both our regional & country Go To Market teams (ie Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Partner Sales, etc) in Asia, ANZ, India and our Japan office. This role will serve as an employee champion and change agent that anticipates and assesses HR-related needs and identifies integrated solutions through communication and collaboration with business leaders and our People & Places teams.

This role reports To: Senior Director, APAC People Partners

Key Responsibilities:

1. Partner closely with the APAC Go To Market leaders and Japan management team to provide strategic HR guidance and support that aligns HR initiatives with business goals to enhance organizational performance, such as but not limited to:

  • Organizational Design

> Consulting on the most effective organizational structure to support business strategy

  • Workforce Planning

> Forecasting future skills and staffing requirements, ensuring the organization recruits and develops the right talent mix.

> Analyzing labor market trends to prepare for industry shifts or regional changes.

  • Cultural Development Initiatives:

> Guiding the formation of company values and behaviours that promote a positive and productive workplace.

  • Change Management:

> Guiding leaders and teams through organizational transitions and transformations.

2. Act as a coach and trusted business advisor to the APAC GTM business leaders and teams in the areas of leadership, organizational effectiveness and People and Places initiatives.

3. In partnership with our APAC GTM leaders and Japan leadership team, drive people and organization development inititives to enhance employee engagement in the organization.

4 In partnership with our APAC Employee Relations team, provide guidance and support as requested on employee relations matters including but not limited to matters such as conflict resolution, advising on disciplinary actions and providing confidential counselling for employees facing work-related challenges.

5. Stay abreast of local employment laws and regulations to ensure that Zendesk's practices in APAC and Japan align with the current legal framework.

6. Provide high level guidance on HR policies and procedures to ensure Zendesk Japan's operations adhere to local labor and employment-related regulations and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner role preferably with a focus on sales or similar functions, demonstrating a progression in complexity of HR responsibilities.

  • Fluent in Japanese and English, both verbal and written; additional APAC regional languages are a plus.

  • Exhibits strong People Partnering skills such as but not limited to Business Acumen, Leadership and Influence, Analytical Skills, Change Management, Cultural Competence, Communication and Problem Solving.

  • Experience working with Regional & Country Go to Market organizations (ie Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Partner Sales, etc), specifically within the technology industry, is highly desired.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence leaders and facilitate agreement amongst differing opinions.

  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring senior leaders.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience with HR metrics and data-driven decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably Workday, and other HR technologies.
