Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in consulting, investment banking, marketing, gaming, or related field.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Japanese fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Passion for and knowledge of mobile games.
  • Strong marketing skill to identify user insights, develop concepts and messages, select right channels to reach to the target audience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, distinctive problem solving, analysis skills, and strong interpersonal skills, as well as impeccable business judgment.
  • Demonstrated analytical success. Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding strategy.

About the job

Whether you're on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (Google Ads, AdSense, Google Marketing Platform, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product's journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the voice of the product and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you'll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end.

As a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) working for Google Play Japan, you will understand the landscape and gamer insights in Japan, lead the team to develop and deliver a compelling marketing plan leveraging broad range of the channels, and represent Japanese gamers’ voice and business needs regionally and globally to influence decisions.



In this role, you will have an opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders both internal cross-functional team members and external partners, such as gaming developers in Japan, to activate and grow the entire gaming industry. You will leverage gaming moments to excite our users, and ultimately activate and grow the entire Japanese gaming industry.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Google Play Japan marketing team to develop and execute Google Play’s marketing plan and campaigns. Lead junior marketers in the team and co-work with our game developers, internal cross-functional team (both local/global), and external creative agencies.
  • Identify the Japan specific challenges and market risks. Drive development of strategic marketing plans to address gaps and mitigate risks.
  • Lead campaigns to engage heavy gamers to promote Google Play through key gaming moments.
  • Analyze and review program and promotional results to deliver key consumer insights that lead to improved impact and campaign return on investment.
  • Lead consumer study (qualitative and quantitative) to identify deep consumer insights and user journey for the successful campaign.
