The Role
Our team in Tokyo is growing and with the arrival of our new 32 qubit Toshiko systems, they are in need of a software engineer with an understanding of quantum computing who can develop new algorithms to effectively meet the demands of our customers. They will engage with our partnerships team to understand the needs and the potential use cases within the customer community to help us position OQC as the best solution for industry.
Responsibilities:
The core focus of this role is the development of algorithms to run on our Toshiko systems, based on the needs identified by our customers. The post holder will also be required to:
- Stay informed about developments in Quantum Algorithms
- Develop and test new Algorithms, optimised for OQC’s hardware, to meet customer needs
- Support our customers as they learn and adapt to Quantum technology
- Working with our partnerships team to build customer solutions
- Support work towards error mitigation
- Liaise with outside partners to communicate about the potential of our technology
- Attend conferences to represent OQC as a technical expert
Skills + experience
- Studies or hands on working experience evaluating/developing quantum algorithms.
- Deep understanding and experience in developing application software.
- Strong coding skills proven by contribution to open source software and/or adoption/practical use of the code by others.
- Experience using Git/Github
- Specific deep knowledge of particular application/algorithm is a plus (example: optimization, quantum simulation, tensor, machine learning, deep learning, etc)
- Programming languages: Python, C++,
- Strong communications skills and the ability to translate technology in to language suitable for non experts
- Need to be proficient in Japanese (written/oral), and comfortable in communicating in English (written/oral)
Experience liaising with customers and outside partners and/or presenting technological developments and research would also be desirable.
