Job Description

The role

We are currently looking for a seasoned Sales leader to own our fastest growing market to date whilst growing and upskilling a high-performing team/pod. There is huge potential for future growth in the US given current market penetration across the region, and still have a significant share of wallet to target alongside market incumbents such as traditional acquirers and banks, and competing market disruptors.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, APAC, this person will be responsible for driving new business growth in the APAC market and communicating their ideas with the business, to ensure Checkout.com becomes the reference technology for digital commerce.

Representing a highly strategic leader, the incoming Sales leader for this region will collaborate closely with multiple in-house stakeholders across Product, Operations, Marketing and Technology to continue to position our growing capabilities, products, services and solutions effectively with top prospects in the region.

This person will not be afraid to get hands-on where required and will be able to support their team sourcing and converting strategically important business leads whilst ensuring they are outperforming their sales targets at all times. They will strive to balance encouraging mentoring and coaching with effective performance management, to develop every team member (whether a new hire or seasoned Sales Rep) into future top-billers and team leaders. They will also be a critical member of the leadership team in continuing to shape and refine the strategy to accelerate growth.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable experience leading Sales and BD (and/or Sales Engineering) organizations in high-growth, fast-paced B2B environments, most likely within payments and acquiring Solid network of potential prospects and partners in the region is preferable, especially within key strategic verticals including e-commerce, digital platforms and subscription businesses
  • Track record of inspiring, coaching and mentoring sales teams from inexperienced IC’s to seasoned managers and top-performers; will help lend structure to the team as it continues to scale and deliver against ever-expanding goals in the region
  • Have a strong grasp of the Japan payments landscape and think strategically on how to drive and execute sales strategies in an identified region or vertical.
  • Ideally will have been proven as an individual contributor in a full-cycle Sales role prior to developing into a manager of complex and high-performing teams
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to work cross-functionally and provide insight to various internal stakeholders across the business
  • Excellent knowledge of Salesforce and other key technologies
  • Tech-savvy, and will be passionate about removing friction for Enterprise customers by offering truly disruptive solutions
  • First-class communication and negotiation skills externally and adept at managing internal stakeholders
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize shifting workloads and responsibilities effectively
  • Strong fluency in Business Japanese and English
