Job Description:
Department Overview
Rakuten's Auto Business was established in May 2019 amid a once-in-a-century transformation in the automotive industry, driven by trends such as MaaS and connected cars.
The Auto Business Department operates the Rakuten Car platform, which covers the entire vehicle lifecycle, and boasts the top market share in the vehicle inspection service industry.
To meet users’ diverse automotive needs - including used car sales, new car test drive reservations, vehicle buybacks, tire replacements, vehicle inspections, car washes, and maintenance - we continue to expand our business (by increasing our client base and service offerings) with the goal of improving service quality every day.
Position:
Why We Hire
“Rakuten Car Vehicle Purchase (formerly Rakuten Car Auction)” is an auction-style vehicle purchase service operated by Rakuten.
Rakuten Car Buyback aims to optimize the used car distribution market by leveraging the strengths of an auction format where buyers from across the country compete.
Currently, our mission is to maximize the number of listings and successful transactions.
We are seeking individuals who can go beyond simply “selling products” to lead strategic planning based on market data, as well as the systematization of business processes and the promotion of digital transformation (DX) using AI.
Attractive Features
- Rakuten Car is a business within Rakuten that continues to grow as a startup, so you’ll have the opportunity to be part of the process of breaking into new markets and expanding the business.
- As a small team within Rakuten, each employee has a high degree of autonomy. You’ll be able to participate in decision-making with a sense of urgency in an environment where your ideas and proposals directly contribute to the business’s growth.
- The Auction Group proposes the most optimal sales plans for our users. In today’s information-driven society, this department possesses the energy and mindset to challenge the status quo - where those with limited access to information are at a disadvantage - and revolutionize the industry.
Position Details

2. Process Improvement and Systemization
- Improving Appointment and Conversion Rates: Actively utilize AI and other technologies to build workflows that optimize the “appointment rate” and “listing conversion rate” following a sale application.
- Operational Efficiency: Drive the creation of systems to minimize tedious manual work and maximize profit margins.
3. Auction Operations and Support
- Listing support for general users, as well as coordination and management of outsourced partners.
- Planning and execution of measures to improve both user experience and operational efficiency, such as reducing instances of incomplete documentation (e.g., title transfers).
