【募集の背景 / Purpose & Scope】

Astellas Pharma’s Product Research & Development (PR&D) organization, including Chemical & Biological Technology Labs. (CBTL), plays a key role in advancing innovative therapeutics from discovery through clinical development and commercialization by leveraging end-to-end CMC capabilities and cutting-edge science and technology.

Within CBTL, the Modality Technology Lab (MT) enables biologics development through cell line development for antibodies and other advanced modalities.

MT works closely with Research and cross-functional partners to enable the progression of discovery assets into development. MT drives cell line development activities, including clone selection, cell banking, and technology transfer to internal and external manufacturing sites. MT also contributes to regulatory submissions and commercial readiness. In parallel, MT advances next-generation cell line development platforms to strengthen biologics production capabilities.

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to proactively drive cell line development, technology transfer, and technical development activities within assigned areas for biologics projects in early- and late-phase development as a member of project and technical team

CBTLにおいてモダリティ技術研究室は、抗体をはじめとする先端モダリティの細胞株構築を通じて、バイオ医薬品開発を推進しています。

モダリティ技術研究室は、研究部門および部門横断的な関係者と密接に連携し、創薬段階の候補品を開発段階へと円滑に移行させる役割を担っています。また、クローン選抜やセルバンク構築、社内外の製造サイトへの技術移管を含む細胞株構築業務を推進するとともに、規制当局への申請対応や商用化の準備にも貢献しています。さらに、バイオ医薬品生産能力の強化に向け、次世代の細胞株構築プラットフォームの高度化にも取り組んでいます。

本ポジションでは、初期から後期開発段階にわたるバイオ医薬品プロジェクトにおいて、プロジェクトチームおよび技術チームの一員として、担当領域における細胞株構築、技術移管、および技術開発業務を主体的に推進いただく意欲的なサイエンティストを募集しています。

【職務の内容 / Essential Job Responsibilities】

•Execute cell line development activities for biologics such as antibodies and other advanced modalities, and conduct technology transfer activities to internal and external manufacturing sites for biologics projects across development stages.

•Contribute to the preparation of regulatory submission documents (e.g., IND/BLA) and support responses to regulatory inquiries as required.

•Evaluate and support implementation of innovative cell line development technologies and platform improvements in collaboration with internal and external partners.

•Participate in meetings with CDMOs and global project teams as a representative or member of the technical team, engaging in scientific and technical discussions.

•May serve as Drug Substance Lead in biologics projects, designing and executing project CMC development strategies, driving planning and operational excellence, and ensuring seamless collaboration across CMC functions.

•抗体およびその他の先端モダリティといったバイオ医薬品の細胞株構築業務を推進するとともに、開発各段階におけるバイオ医薬品プロジェクトにおいて、社内外の製造サイトへの技術移管を実施する。

•申請資料（IND/BLA等）の作成に貢献するとともに、必要に応じて規制当局からの照会事項への対応を支援する。

•社内外パートナーと連携し、革新的な細胞株構築技術およびプラットフォーム改良の評価・導入を推進する。

•代表またはメンバーとして、CDMOおよびグローバルプロジェクトチームとの会議に参加し、科学的・技術的な議論を行う。

•必要に応じて、バイオ医薬品プロジェクトにおけるDrug Substance Leadとして、CMC開発戦略の策定および実行を担い、計画・オペレーションの最適化を推進するとともに、CMC関連部門間の円滑な連携を実現する。

•It will be permitted to join early morning/midnight meeting from home.

•This role may travel to manufacturing site in order to perform person in plant.

•早朝または深夜の会議については、自宅からのリモート参加が可能です。

•業務上必要に応じて、生産サイトへの出張が発生し、現地でのオンサイト対応を行う場合があります。

【応募要件 / Qualifications】

＜必須 / Required＞

•Experience in cell line development and/or in developing expression platform for biologics.

•Master's degree or higher with relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

•Basic business communication skills in English.

•Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

•Problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, hands-on mindset.

•バイオ医薬品において、細胞株構築や発現プラットフォーム開発に関する実務経験

•修士号以上を有し、製薬企業またはバイオテクノロジー企業での実務経験

•英語による基本的な業務コミュニケーション能力

•部門横断チームにおいて効果的に協働できるコラボレーション能力

•問題解決能力を備え、自律的かつ主体的に業務を推進する姿勢

＜歓迎 / Preferred＞

•Experience in cell line development for antibodies and other modalities.

•Experience in CMC development, including control strategies and regulatory submissions (e.g., IND/BLA).

•Experience with technology transfer to internal and/or external manufacturing sites.

•Experience in evaluating and implementing new technologies or driving innovation initiatives.

•Business communication skills in English and/or experience collaborating with global stakeholders
