Introduction to the role

Eku Energy, a pioneering energy storage company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Energy Market Analyst to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Energy Market Analyst at Eku Energy, you will play a key role in analysing and providing insights on energy market trends and developments. This position presents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team during an exciting phase of growth, contributing to the advancement of the global clean energy transition. Initially established by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, Eku Energy is jointly owned by a Macquarie Asset Management managed fund and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI).


Responsibilities of the role.

Your role will comprise the following key responsibilities:

· Build and maintain market optimization models to identify market dynamics, outlooks and investment opportunities.

· Run and maintain existing python models and support model development work

· Collect, evaluate and interpret market and/or technical data to provide actionable insights and recommendations

· Design and set up database tables, collect and manage market and operations data; build analysis tools for assessing market opportunities and energy storage trading performance etc

· Research global energy markets rules and trends to accurately understand energy storage operations and energy market potentials.

· Develop strategies, reports, graphical outputs of revenue and system dispatch to support energy market investigation and business case development

· Collaborate with cross functional teams to assist in advising all phases of project/program/investment development and execution, including due diligence, selection, integration, design, delivery, commissioning, and operation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Data Science, Engineering).

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electricity market analysis or related field in Japan, preferably from a utility or consulting company

• Strong knowledge of energy markets, in particular electricity and renewable energy sectors

• Hands-on experience with market optimization tools with an ability to interpret results

• Intermediate to advanced python skills with experience in data manipulation and modelling

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and engaging manner

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Passion for data analytics and clean energy and sustainability

• Previous experience in the energy storage industry is a plus
