We are looking for an experienced Cloud Solution Architect to join our team in Tokyo, Japan.
As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will work as part of a dynamic and specialized technical pre-sales team focusing on VMware Cloud on AWS and help customers to understand their business challenges and IT priorities in an effort to design cloud solutions that will transform the way they deliver IT services.
This team's primary responsibility is to work with customers, however there will be a strong linkage to VMware’s Cloud partner ecosystem. Together, we will design & prove out transformational strategies spanning private, hybrid or public cloud architectures for our customers. We are expected to contribute to those strategies, develop reusable domain IP, and mentor internal & external partners on the use of the tools & technologies.

Own the technical elements of the pre-sales process to understand customer business/technical outcomes and solution requirements
Collaborate with VMware Business Units to provide real time feedback and trends to help drive accurate roadmaps based on customer needs and objectives
Build robust cloud solutions to meet the business & technical objectives of our customers
Represent VMware’s cloud strategy and integrated multi-cloud vision across private, hybrid and public cloud services
Develop joint customer vision, strategy and roadmaps to help customers on their multi-cloud journey
Ability to think past the products and craft solutions to meet the business/IT outcomes
Establish credibility & build deep relationships with senior technical leaders within the customer community and become trusted advocates of VMware’s cloud strategy
Lead technical validation efforts for VMware Cloud Solutions against business/IT requirements and desired outcomes
Participate in deep architectural discussions to build confidence and ensure customer success against VMware cloud solutions
Work collaboratively within a team to drive account planning with the customer vision, use case and outcomes
Effectively communicate complex solutions architecture to the customer, third parties, product and project teams
Participate in regional marketing, industry and community-based events to promote VMware’s cloud strategy
Qualifications / Requirements
BA/BS or equivalent required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese
Proficient in written business English is required
Proficient in spoken business English is a plus
5+ years Technical Pre-Sales / Sales Engineering experience
Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with large audiences
Deep technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
Domain level understanding of cloud infrastructures including compute, network and storage
VMware virtualization, networking, and cloud management products
Cloud Native, Amazon Web Services, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc. are plus
