Team’s Mission / Work Responsibilities

Work Responsibilities

  • As a Recruiter, you will actively and boldly lead recruiting activities to help grow Mercari with members who are excited about taking on the challenges of making Mercari into a global marketplace.
  • Specific responsibilities and expectations of this job include the following:
    • Be an ambassador and effective spokesperson for Mercari - attract and hire the best talent in the industry
    • Independently drive hiring needs for our engineering units end-to-end, and manage the entire lifecycle of recruitment
    • Develop and plan recruiting strategies around sourcing, branding, candidate experience and management, addressing the challenges of Japan and the global talent market
    • Proactively execute sourcing strategies to engage and nurture the pipeline of passive talents, and take steps to approach people from diverse backgrounds
    • Work with stakeholders to ensure smooth onboarding of new hires in Mercari
    • Work with stakeholders to drive new employee engagement and internal/corporate branding
  • Below are tools used in work:
    • G Suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Meet, etc.)
    • Slack
    • Workable (ATS)
    • LinkedIn
    • Plus any other recruiting tools as you see fit

Minimum Requirements

  • Shared belief in Mercari Group’s mission and values
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in recruiting work at a in-house or agency
  • Substantial experience in a broad range of recruiting activities, such as direct sourcing, working with recruitment agencies, planning and carrying out hiring events, etc.
  • A mindset of taking on bold challenges, acting fast, and learning from mistakes


Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in recruiting global talent
  • Experience working in a diverse team
  • Ability to identify/define the talent needed based on the current state of the organization and follow through with hiring that talent

  • English: Independent (CEFR - B2) and above
  • Japanese: Independent (CEFR - B2) and above

Working Conditions

Employment Status

Full-time

  • Probationary period: First 3 months after joining the company. (During this period your contract conditions will be the same as that of a permanent employee.)


Office

Tokyo Japan

  • Smoking is prohibited within our offices
  • Flexible Hybrid workstyle

Mercari has introduced a work style policy called “Your Choice.” Each member is free to choose whether they want to work in the office or work fully remote. *Exceptions made for certain kinds of work.


Work Hours

  • Full flextime (no “core time” or “flex time”)
    *Does not apply to all positions


Holidays

  • Two days off per week (as well as national holidays, New Year's break, etc.)
  • Paid leave, congratulatory and bereavement leave, relax days, sick leave

Salary

  • Annual salary paid in 12 monthly installments (including fixed overtime allowance)
  • Based on skills, experience, and abilities
  • Reviewed twice a year
