As a Tax Operations Associate within our dedicated team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our clients' investments through efficient tax relief strategies. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all intricate and technical tax-related issues, offering support and guidance to our clients. Leveraging your comprehensive understanding of the client’s business, structure, and tax strategy, you will ensure all entitled tax benefits are received, thereby optimizing tax efficiency. Additionally, you will manage client tax documentation and engage in client tax account reviews and miscellaneous projects across the broader Tax Operations team.

Job responsibilities

  • Be centralized point of contact for all complex and technical tax issues to support our client’s tax servicing needs and lead the Tax component of service reviews and other meetings with the client
  • Provide technical input on any tax-related product or other change requests and leverage tax expertise to ensure that the clients interests are represented and understood throughout the business
  • Provide proactive support and guidance and oversight of tax reclaims and follow-up on aged and problematic items with global tax authorities
  • Have a deep understanding of the client’s business, structure and tax strategy to ensure all entitled tax benefits are received in order to maximize tax efficiency
  • Handle receipt and management of client tax documentation, including, as needed, onward distribution to internal teams to ensure the efficient set-up within internal systems
  • Identify and escalate tax risks and participate in resolution.
  • Assist in client tax account reviews and ad-hoc projects across the wider Tax Operations team.
  • Prepare the materials for the governance meeting and service review meeting.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Working experience in financial sectors, accounting firms or other professional institutions
  • Able to discuss experience of client service and relationship management communicating complex issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate your in-depth operational tax experience within financial services, specifically global custody or investment banking.
  • Able to give examples of your successful internal and external communication and problem-solving experience.
  • Able to give examples of your risk awareness and operational control experience within financial services.
  • Able to discuss your process improvement experience, where you clearly articulate ideas, concepts and procedural changes to clients.
  • Self driven and able to work autonomously and have proven experience within an arena where accuracy is critical within strict deadlines
  • Native Japanese skills/ Business level English skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Custodian business or have tax background
  • Have strong data management skills will be considered to be an advantage
