About The Role:

As an experienced Senior Ventilation Engineer you will play an integral part in leading the planning phase of site ventilation design which supports the construction of the mines underground infrastructure. You will monitor and oversee the maintenance of underground and surface ventilation, equipment maintenance and other systems to meet statutory requirements across our Prominent Hill Operations.

Your new role will require you to lead, coach, and mentor a team of mine ventilation engineers and technicians, where you will be able to share and impart your knowledge.

Location: Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)

Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off, 4 days on; 3 days off

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

In this role you will:

  • Input and management of Ventilation Management Plans, Site Radiation Management Plan with the Occupational Health & Safety team.
  • Lead the development, review, and maintaining any risk-based hygiene management plan.
  • Control the underground ventilation system in line with budgeted physical targets in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Control and monitor all underground ventilation systems to ensure ventilation standards and regulations are achieved.
  • Manage the contractors undertaking the ventilation works so they meet safety, cost, and improvement targets.
  • Conduct documented underground environmental hygiene checks and surveys for temperature, gas, dust, air flows, and other contaminants.
  • Implement corrective action plans in consultation with Technical Services and Mine Operations teams.
  • Time in the field to ensure ventilation activities are achieved in a safe and effective manner.
  • Complete hazard identification, rectification and reporting in line with site requirements.

About You:

  • Sound experience working in underground, hard rock, metalliferous mining environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in underground mine ventilation environment.
  • Proven experience in mine ventilation design, infrastructure commissioning and monitoring.
  • Proven experience leading a team of Engineers to deliver safe mine ventilation project / outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to be motivated and self-directed to achieve project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high pressure and dynamic environments.
  • Previous experience developing and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proven ability to work independently in office and underground.
  • Strongly developed Microsoft Office, Ventsim, INX and Deswik suite software experience.
