Primary Responsibilities
The Japan Operational Risk Coverage team is responsible for working with business and infrastructure units to identify, analyze, assess and challenge operational risks associated with the processes and controls relevant to each business and supporting infrastructure. Coverage Officers are responsible for driving and implementing the Operational Risk Framework.
Specific responsibilities include:
>Understand the Firm's Operational Risk Management Framework to identify and assess significant operational risks and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are undertaken, including risk incidents & issues reviews.
>Liaise with business counterparties, risk managers, and global/regional colleagues to ensure the risks are managed within the firm's risk tolerance.
>Enhance / build solid relationships with key individuals relevant to designated coverage responsibilities.
>Develop in-depth understanding of the business and operational risks within designated coverage areas.
>Carry out deep dives into material operational risk events (internal and external), perform thematic reviews and deep dives to proactively identify risks.
>Participate in review of new products raised by the relevant business areas.
>Support the Head of Japan ORD in developing and driving ORD initiatives and assist production of Management Information / meeting materials as appropriate. Qualifications and Skills Required
1.Candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience, having worked directly in Sales & Trading functions or a supporting infrastructure unit.
2.Fluency in English & Japanese
3.Prior experience in risk management, audit or other risk/control-based role is preferred.
4.Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge the 1st line.
5.Proven ability to anticipate and identify risks and effective mitigants.
6.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and against tight deadlines.
7.Ability to communicate in concise and precise manner.
8.Ability to work in a team environment, build and maintain a network of stakeholders throughout the firm. Being able to work independently while collaborating and coordinating with the team members.
Skills desired (preferred)
>Experience in 1st or 2nd line risk management functions.
>Hands on experience in large global financial institutions.
>Worked in a multinational organization and/or has experience working with overseas business partners and clients.
>Experience in handling Japanese regulatory exams and inquiries.
