We are searching for an accountant (AR) based in Tokyo, Japan.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform portions of the monthly closing of general ledgers, compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare monthly journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations
  • Responsible areas are mainly: Treasury, AR, Revenue, Inventory, Warranty, related BS/PL items
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and standard operating procedures and identify/establish internal controls and ensure their operating effectiveness
  • Ensure customer credit control operation with monitoring of customers’ financial rating, including sharing rating information with sales department and Finance Manager/VP Finance
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to maintain delivery block from credit limit setting
  • Ensure AR monitoring activities with maintaining AR aging list, timely follow up of any aged or doubtful AR with sales representatives and sales director, bad debt management
  • Ensure Treasury activities ranging from cash transfer, remittance, bank balance reconciliation, supporting Finance Manager for cash flow forecast, and maintaining bank information of suppliers/vendors registered in banks and other necessary data
  • Ensure inventory monitoring operation assigned locally, which ranges from daily inventory issue, cycle count operation and review of results and physical inventory counts in DC, HQ and BS
  • Preparing concise, accurate, timely and detailed general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries and reviewing transactions and resolve issues for correct local and US GAAP treatment
  • Dealing with external auditors and prepare necessary audit documents for areas in charge
  • Dealing with external tax accountant and prepare necessary tax related documents for areas in charge for tax filing
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

Business Knowledge, Skill Requirements, and Desired Attributes:

  • Practical experience of all parts of the finance function including statutory and fiscal reporting and corporation tax for companies.
  • Knowledge of US/IFRS GAAP and Tax filing
  • Logical thinking
  • Good team-work spirit, good interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, yet ability to maintain productivity-oriented with understanding big picture
  • Deadline driven with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Proactive and flexible with respecting company’s priority
  • Japanese (native/advanced level)

  • SAP

Education and/or Certifications and/or Training:

  • The Official Business Skills test in Bookkeeping 2nd grade or any certification of equivalent

Minimum Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position
