ポジション概要
シニアアカウンタント（General Ledger：総勘定元帳）は、日本ファイナンスチームにおけるGeneral Ledger（GL）業務を担当します。具体的には、複雑な仕訳の作成・起票を独立して行い、勘定残高のレビュー、勘定照合（リコンシリエーション）の実施、財務データの分析、会計関連文書の維持管理、担当領域における月次・四半期・年次決算業務をリードします。
Band 5のポジションとして、高い正確性と責任感を持って担当する会計業務を自律的に遂行することが期待されます。会計原則、財務報告、General Ledgerプロセスに関する深い知識に加え、会社の会計方針および一般に公正妥当と認められた会計原則（GAAP）を適切に適用し、専門的な判断を下す能力が求められます。
また、関係者との積極的なコミュニケーションを図り、担当範囲内の会計・業務上の課題を自ら解決し、業務改善の機会を見出すとともに、部門横断的なプロジェクトをリードすることが期待されます。複雑または高リスクな案件については、分析結果、会計上の見解、および解決策の提案を添えてマネージャーへエスカレーションします。
主な職務内容
- 月次・四半期・年次のGL決算業務をサポートする。
- 複雑な仕訳を独立して作成・レビュー・起票する。
- 担当勘定の残高を確認し、基本的な勘定照合作業を実施する。
- 税務申告、法定報告、監査、社内報告、その他コンプライアンス対応に必要なデータを抽出・整理する。
- 会計業務に必要な証憑や関連資料を適切に保管・管理する。
- 必要に応じて、担当業務の業務フローを関係者へ説明する。
- 担当範囲内の定型的な課題に対応し、解決できない事項については、解決案を添えて直属のマネージャーへ報告・相談する。
- 担当領域における会計業務および業務プロセスの見直し・改善を支援する。
- 臨時案件、問題解決、部門横断プロジェクトを主体的に推進する。
必須資格・経験
- 経理・財務部門、監査法人、会計事務所等における実務経験5年以上、または同等の経験。
- 簿記、仕訳、勘定科目の特性、General Ledgerプロセスに関する高度な理解。
- 日常的な仕訳作成や決算業務の実務経験。
- Excelを使用した会計データの抽出・整理・レビューができること。
- 細部に注意を払い、期限内に正確に業務を遂行できる能力。
- 優れた日本語でのコミュニケーション能力。
- メール、各種文書、システム関連のやり取りができるビジネスレベルの英語（読み書き）。
- 業務改善志向を持ち、効率化の機会を発見・実行できる能力。
歓迎資格・経験
- 外資系企業またはシェアードサービス環境での勤務経験。
- ERPまたは会計システムの使用経験（SAP経験があれば尚可）。
- US GAAP、日本基準（Japan GAAP）、および会社の会計方針に関する基礎知識。
- 税務、法定報告、監査、内部統制業務のサポート経験。
- 日商簿記2級以上、または同等の会計知識。
Band 5に期待されるレベル
このポジションは、定められた担当範囲において、General Ledger業務を正確に遂行する責任を担います。
高度な会計プロセスを十分に理解し、仕訳や関連データを自律的に作成・起票するとともに、担当領域の関係者と積極的にコミュニケーションを取り、定型的な課題から中程度の複雑さを持つ課題までを自ら解決することが求められます。
高度に複雑または例外的な案件については、事実関係、会計上の論点、および推奨する解決策を整理した上で、マネージャーと連携して対応します。
さらに、担当領域における業務改善の機会を積極的に見つけ出し、その改善活動を主体的に推進することが期待されます。
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant, General Ledger is responsible for executing General Ledger activities for the Japan Finance team, including independently preparing and posting complex journal entries, reviewing account balances, performing reconciliations, analysing financial data, maintaining accounting documentation, and leading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities within the assigned area.
As a Band 5 role, this position is expected to independently manage assigned accounting responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and General Ledger processes, as well as the ability to apply company Accounting Policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in exercising sound professional judgment. The successful candidate is expected to proactively communicate with stakeholders, independently resolve accounting and operational issues within the assigned scope, identify opportunities for process improvements, and lead cross-functional initiatives. Complex or high-risk matters should be escalated to the manager with clear analysis, accounting recommendations, and proposed solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual GL closing activities.
- Prepare, assess, and post complex journal entries independently.
- Review assigned account balances and support basic reconciliation activities.
- Extract and organize data required for tax filings, statutory reporting, audits, internal reporting, and other compliance requirements.
- Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and evidence for accounting activities.
- Explain the business flow of the assigned work area to stakeholders when required.
- Follow up on routine issues within the assigned scope and escalate unresolved matters to the direct manager with possible options.
- Support review and improvement of accounting and business processes within the assigned area.
- Proactively lead ad hoc initiatives, issue resolution, and cross-functional projects.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience in a finance or accounting department, audit firm, accounting firm, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced understanding of bookkeeping, journal entries, account characteristics, and general ledger processes.
- Experience preparing or supporting routine journal entries and closing activities.
- Ability to extract, organize, and review accounting data using Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assigned tasks accurately and within deadlines.
- Good communication skills in Japanese.
- Business level English reading and writing skills for emails, documentation, and system-related communication.
- Process improvement mindset with ability to identify and implement efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a multinational company or shared service environment.
- Experience using ERP or accounting systems, preferably SAP experience.
- Basic understanding of US GAAP, Japan GAAP, company accounting policies.
- Experience supporting tax, statutory, audit, or internal control activities.
- Nissho Bookkeeping Grade 2 or above, or equivalent accounting knowledge.
Band 5 Level Expectation
This role is responsible for the accurate execution of assigned GL activities within a defined scope. The position is expected to have a strong understanding of advanced accounting processes, independently prepare and post journal entries and supporting data, proactively communicate with stakeholders within the assigned area, and independently resolve routine and moderately complex issues. For highly complex or exceptional matters, the role is expected to engage the manager by presenting relevant facts, accounting considerations, and recommended solutions. The role is also expected to identify opportunities for process improvements and lead improvement initiatives within the assigned area.
