Overview

The Associate Director, Corporate Planning will play a critical role by working closely with the senior management team in Japan to enable the execution of branch‑wide priorities. This role is ideal for a high‑performing, strategic professional with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills who is eager to contribute to broad business initiatives and gain exposure to branch‑level decision‑making.

Responsibilities include coordination of cross‑functional efforts, strategic planning activities, and branch‑wide tracking and coordination of key projects and initiatives, as well as direct execution of assigned branch initiatives.

What you will do

Strategic support and branch coordination

  • Support senior management team in Japan in the development and activation of branch‑wide strategic priorities, ensuring alignment across functions
  • Prepare briefing materials, meeting agendas, and strategic updates for stakeholder forums for projects/initiatives, helping to facilitate productive dialogue and informed decision‑making
  • Provide visibility into the performance and progress of key projects/initiatives across the branch, ensuring timely updates, clear ownership, and consistent follow‑through
  • Build and continually nurture relationships with cross‑functional associates at all levels across the organization to support branch priorities


Initiative execution and project management

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned projects/initiatives by developing project plans, tracking milestones, and managing documentation
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather inputs, monitor progress, and identify risks or bottlenecks that may impact delivery
  • Assist in preparing projects/initiatives dashboards, status reports, and executive summaries that support portfolio‑level planning, sequencing, and prioritization of initiatives

Committee management and stakeholder engagement

  • Help design and maintain operating rhythms, including recurring meetings, planning cycles, and governance routines that support execution of branch initiatives
  • Support change initiatives through structured communication, coordination, and follow‑up across functions from branch-wide committees
  • Maintain ongoing understanding of the progress of initiatives and raise awareness when variances from plan begin to emerge


Strategic analysis and research

  • Conduct targeted research and analysis to support business origination at the front-office
  • Assist in developing business cases and structured analyses to support business origination

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required. MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in strategy, consulting, PMO, project management or business operations
  • Native Japanese language skills and professional to fluent English (verbal and written) is required
  • Experience working on cross‑functional initiatives in a corporate or matrix environment
  • Experience in financial services sector, re/insurance industry knowledge would be an added advantage
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing presentations and reports
  • Skilled in managing timelines, tracking deliverables, and supporting cross-functional teams
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on process improvement and execution excellence
  • Advanced proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience managing SharePoint and internal content platforms, ensuring effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment with governance standards
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is not a must and would be a plus
