Job Description

We are seeking an Associate to join the Brookfield Japan office in the capacity of Client Relationship Management and Client Service. Brookfield is seeking a dynamic individual who will be responsible for driving retail and wealth management sales and client service.

About the Role

The role will be primarily focused on developing new business and client service across Brookfield Oaktree’s Wealth Solutions business (private wealth) alternative capabilities with mega banks, regional banks, securities firms who are providing alternative fund and solutions to their high-net-worth client base.

The role will represent across Brookfield and Oaktree’s investment platform including our private funds (close and open ended), semi-liquid private market vehicles designed specifically for the retail/wealth channel, and daily liquid public securities capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Helping to contribute to growing Brookfield Oaktree’s retail sales/intermediary business in Japan

  • Provide timely support to distributors for BOWS strategies

  • Identify business opportunities, collect market intelligence, built new relationships with junior clients/prospects to collect competitors information

  • Collaborate with functional teams and service providers to ensure clients’ requests and questions get addressed timely and properly, e.g. with marketing, investment, legal, compliance, operation and PMT, etc.

  • Support to manage visitor’s meeting schedule; prepare briefing memo, coordinate client meetings, organize internal briefing meetings as well as prepare materials for the meetings

  • Analyse marketing data, including competitive analysis in Japanese market, particularly private assets, alternative arena for not only seeking new opportunities also providing internal resources

  • Handle requests from clients /prospects in timely manner with sense of urgency

Project Management

  • Be the key Japan lead in client onboarding and product discussions

  • The key responsibility of this role is to ensure the smooth running, project management of client onboarding, and product structuring related discussions as it relates to retail/intermediary/wealth initiatives in Japan

  • The individual will leverage expertise and information from the Brookfield legal and product teams, investor relations, operations, to manage client onboarding and product implementation

  • Work closely with the wealth business development project management team in terms of coordinating investment and operational diligence activities, road shows, and investor meetings

Product

  • Be involved in client discussions related to product structuring related to Brookfield’s Global Alternative suite of offerings

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on the production of product documentation

Client Services

  • Assist in facilitating and supporting with prospective and existing investor inquiries from retail/intermediary/wealth channels

  • Collaborate with IR teams across private and public securities to facilitate responding to client enquiries

  • Conduct market analysis, such as competitive analysis in the market and compile it for materials.

About You

  • 5-7 years’ experience in capital raising and client service roles for retail sales/intermediary sales channel in Japan

  • Track record of retail sales fund raising and client service

  • Quantifiable track record of raising capital within retail/wealth channel

  • Knowledge of aspects related to regulation of Japanese investment products (JSDA, FSA) and knowledge of Toshin Keiri (booking system in Japanese ITM)

  • A strong network of relationships within the retail sales and wealth channel across Japan with Banks, securities firms, asset managers

  • CFA / CMA holder is desirable

  • Fluent in Japanese and English

  • Outstanding relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealings with clients and internal stakeholders

  • Able to adapt to fast changing environment, organized and detailed-oriented.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including preparation and delivery of presentations.

  • Self-motivated and proactive with respect to managing workload and new business origination

  • Experience working in an international organisation, working across time zones and willingness to be flexible with hours as part of a global organisation

  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint
