General Description:

(Associate) Medical Director, Hematology, Japan will be accountable for all medical Hematology team activities in Japan. He/She will provide key strategic direction and leadership to drive functional excellence for clinical evidence and products development in Japan. He/She will develop Hematology medical strategy and implement it collaborating with Hematology Brand Team, supervised by medical director. As a Medical team leader of Hematology, (Associate) Medical Director will closely work with other function and support entire Japan Hematology Brand strategy.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Demonstrate and model leadership while developing real authentic relationship with openness, vulnerability, and trust. Culture includes continuous learning and development, coaching and mentoring, innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Develop and responsible Hematology medical plan aligned with GMA (Global Medical Affairs), and Japan brand team (commercial, R&D, HEOR and other).

  • Make medical activity plan based on the annual medical plan and implement medical activities working with medical managers and MSL team.

  • Supervise medical managers to make scientific communication plan, including local publication plan, and implement scientific educational program and execute local publication plan.

  • Work closely with clinical development team to support global study, especially enrollment plan and make solid rationale for Japan to participate global study in early phase.

  • Ensure all the medical plan/activities are following all the regulation / compliance, locally and globally.

  • Provide timely support of medical input to other function (regulatory, PV, etc) when they get any queries from PMDA/MHLW.

  • Review IIS proposal and propose approval if it fits to the global/local strategy, and follow all internal external communication.

  • Responsible for recruiting, providing appropriate training, coaching and mentoring medical mangers and MSLs and ensuring talent-pool for a dynamic and changing organization.

  • Develop and manage annual/LRP operational budget of Japan Hematology medical team.

Qualification Required:

Education Required:

With minimum 8 years industry experience as R&D or MA, or advanced degree (e.g. M.D., PhD)

Other Qualifications:

  • MD/PhD is desirable

  • More than 8 years experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry in Oncology

  • More than 3 years leadership experience

  • Understanding of medical and commercial needs

  • Understanding JPA regulations and low related pharmaceutical industry

  • Excellent written and oral communication skill

  • English communication with regional/global team

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hematology Medical Mangers and Hematology MSLs

Computer Skills: Skilled in multiple computer-based tools, in addition to software programs such as Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. PC & iPad literacy required, MS Office skills, experienced with electronic CRM systems.

Travel: more than 15% of work including domestic/oversea travel
