Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the finance function for Owndays Japan. This role is central to driving financial strategy, operational excellence, and governance while enabling strong business performance across our retail and digital operations.
You will be responsible for building financial resilience, optimizing resources, and partnering closely with senior leadership to scale Owndays Japan as part of Lenskart’s global growth story.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the finance strategy in alignment with business priorities and global standards
Serve as a strategic advisor to the Country CEO and leadership team on financial planning, investments, and business performance
Build robust frameworks for growth while balancing profitability and risk management
Business Partnering & Decision Support
Partner with retail, merchandising, and operations leaders to enable data-driven decision-making
Evaluate new business opportunities, expansion strategies, and investment cases
Lead financial modeling and scenario planning for Japan’s growth strategy
Driving Gross Margin, EBITDA expansion and cost control
Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual operating plans, budgets, and rolling forecasts
Drive performance tracking against financial and operational KPIs
Proactively identify risks and opportunities, ensuring agility in financial planning
Driving Weekly Business Reviews with HQ, Board Meetings
Overseeing Financial Audit, Financial Reporting and Tax compliance
Timely closing and reporting of financial statements as per group reporting timelines
Overseeing controllership and quarterly / annual audits as per group timelines
Ensuring tax compliance in partnership with SMEs
Working Capital & Treasury Management
Optimize cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation
Oversee treasury, banking, and funding arrangements in collaboration with Group Finance
Ensure efficient hedging, liquidity, and debt management practices
Systems, Processes & Analytics
Strengthen financial systems, ERP Implementation, tools, and reporting processes for scalability
Drive automation, analytics, and dashboards to provide real-time business insights
Enable data-led decision-making through financial technology adoption
Team Leadership & Global Alignment
Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team in Japan
Align Japan’s finance practices with Lenskart Group’s global finance frameworks
Collaborate with group-level stakeholders on strategic initiatives and governance
Ideal Candidate Profile:
12–15 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including CFO/Head of Finance roles in Japan
Education pedigree: CPA or MBA in Finance
Strong background in retail, consumer, or fast-growth businesses is highly preferre
Expertise in financial planning, controllership and business partnering
Proven ability to scale financial systems and processes in multi-site, high-growth environments
Deep understanding of Japanese accounting standards, tax, and regulatory landscape
Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capability and ability to influence at board level
Language & Communication Skills:
Fluency in Japanese and English
It’s mandatory to know English and Japanese to collaborate with Lenskart Group’s international teams
