Job Description Summary:

【Main Activities】

  • Climate pillar: Develop the most optimum mid- to long-term decarbonization strategy and implementation plan in line with the global sustainability commitments toward the 2030 vision in Climate (Japan and South Korea).
  • Refine decarbonization roadmap and support implementation plan developed together with the bottlers by setting up milestones up to 2030.
  • Primarily, promote and support Coca-Cola Bottler Japan Inc (CCBJI) in obtaining the Science-based Target (SbT) certification, including the new FLAG 1.5 requirements, recalculation of baseline emissions and partial revision of key emissions factors.
  • Lead and promote the introduction of renewable energy (focus on renewable electricity) by supporting plan development/delivery in Manufacturing and Vending Machines, with close collaboration with the Supply Chain and Procurement functions in CCBJI and other bottlers.
  • Seek validation of Supplier-Specific Emission Factors (SSEF) with the global team, as needed.
  • Collaborate with key ingredient and packaging suppliers to develop strategic partnerships for decarbonization (Scope 3).
  • Water pillar: Support the development of new value-added activities related to water stewardship and efficiency in Japan and South Korea.
  • Provide technical support for the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Certification work for selected plants in Japan.
  • Support the Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability department in the technical validation of Water Replenishment data.
  • Collaborate with the Quality, Safety and Environment (QSE) team to develop step-change water efficiency improvement initiatives in manufacturing plants in cooperation with the bottler companies.
  • Provide support to Source Water Vulnerability Assessments, as needed.
  • Environmental Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure robust data governance on energy/carbon/water/waste to satisfy current and new requirements.
  • Govern actions in line with internal/country regulations and monitor the performance through robust and precise data collection.
  • Seek alignment with new requirements from the central team, as needed.
  • Support manufacturing plants during internal audits and other data verification routines to validate data accuracy in Japan and South Korea.
  • Delegate data collection and governance to local team in CCJC to prepare mandatory report in line with local regulations (Energy Saving Act, Food Control Act, etc.).

【Other key areas of responsibility】

  • Ensure key stakeholders are aligned under a governance framework to advance activities especially in the Climate agenda, including working groups with bottlers.
  • Develop and maintain close partnership with the Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability department to align on key priorities and activities.
  • Actively participate in global workstreams organized by the Global Environmental Council (GEC).

【Qualifications & Requirements】

  • Good level of understanding of the technical aspects related to environmental data and assurance processes.
  • Passion for Sustainability and its intersection with business.
  • Willingness to “go beyond” and attentive to new trends in the industry and requirements in the Climate/Water work spectrum.
  • Communication skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across diverse functions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty when establishing new processes and workflows.
  • Experience in communicating with executives.
  • Advanced language abilities in English and Japanese.
