Department Overview

The Event Planning Group of the Rakuten University Section organizes and manages events for Rakuten Ichiba merchants, sharing our business strategy and operational expertise.
We are responsible for flagship events, including the "Rakuten New Year Conference" and "Rakuten Town Meetings," which outline Rakuten Ichiba's vision and mid-term strategies. We also host the "Rakuten Shop of the Year Award Ceremony," an annual event honoring the best among our 50,000+ merchants.

Amidst intensifying competition in the e-commerce market, Rakuten Ichiba is prioritizing the deepening of communication with our merchants. In this pivotal phase, we are seeking a candidate who can serve as a bridge through event planning, fostering strong, long-term partnerships between Rakuten Ichiba and our merchants.

You will work closely with business leaders, executives, and merchants, gaining direct insights to shape and implement impactful initiatives. Operating in a collaborative environment with diverse stakeholders, you will drive growth through meaningful communication and strategic partnership.

Position Details

Responsible for the following operations at major Rakuten events targeting Rakuten’s merchants.
Specific Responsibilities
Handle the following tasks at major Rakuten events for Rakuten Ichiba merchants, including the Rakuten New Year Conference, Rakuten Town Meetings, and the Rakuten Shop of the Year Awards Ceremony.
- Project management, planning, operation management of the events
- Contents planning and production with external vendor

Organization Structure
- Department: Approx. 50 members
- Rakuten University Section: 17 members
- Event Planning Group: 5 members (1 Manager, 1 Assistant Manager, 3 Members)
- Age Range: Primarily in their 30s
- Composition: 3 New Graduates, 2 Mid-career hires

- Event planning and operations experience
Career Path Example
- Promoted to Project Lead within 5 years of joining, currently active as a future team leader candidate

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for effective documentation and project management
- Practical experience in project management or event planning and operations

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in leading large-scale events or managing projects with complex stakeholder structures
- Experience in presenting proposals and strategies to senior management or executives

Additional information on English Qualification

TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country.
