Field Application Engineer (FAE) / Product Design Engineer (PDE)

Your Job

As a Field Application Engineer (FAE) / Product Design Engineer (PDE), you will act as the technical interface between customers, sales, and global engineering teams for automotive high‑speed communication connectors. You will support product development, translate customer technical requirements into design inputs, and provide technical proposals that enable product adoption and expansion.

Our Team

You will join CMSBU Networking (高速通信コネクタ技術) within TIS (Transportation Innovative Solutions) Japan Connector Engineering, based in Yokohama (Minato Mirai).

The team focuses on high‑speed communication technologies for automotive applications and works closely with domestic and global design teams to deliver advanced connectivity solutions.

What You Will Do

• Engage in technical discussions with customers regarding automotive high‑speed communication connectors

• Collaborate with domestic and overseas design teams to support product development in line with defined development processes

• Create technical proposals to support product expansion and business growth

• Understand customer technical requirement specifications and deploy them to global teams

• Work closely with the sales organization to reflect customer requirements into product designs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Fundamental knowledge of electrical/electronic, communications, or mechanical engineering

• Practical experience in the automotive or electronic components industry

• Knowledge of high‑speed signal transmission (e.g., signal integrity, transmission lines, impedance design)

• Ability to read and understand drawings (connectors, harnesses, circuit diagrams)

• Clear, logical, and concise presentation and communication skills

• Education: Technical college or university graduate (Bachelor’s degree or higher), preferably in mechanical engineering

• Proactive and self‑motivated, with the ability to lead tasks and solve problems independently

• Strong team player who builds relationships with sincerity and mutual respect

• Language skills:

○ Japanese: Native level

○ English: Business basic level

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience in automotive high‑speed communication connector or harness design

• Knowledge of Automotive Ethernet standards and ecosystems (e.g., OPEN Alliance, IEEE 802.3)

• Experience with EMC/EMI countermeasures

• Business experience working with automotive customers (OEMs or Tier‑1 suppliers)

English communication skills at business level or higher
