DESCRIPTION:

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Field Service Engineer supporting our industry-leading Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS) and Multi-Collector ICP-MS (Neoma and Neptune) systems. In this customer-facing role, you will provide expert technical service, application support, and scientific expertise to customers engaged in isotope ratio and trace element analysis across nuclear-related organizations, academic, government.

Your key responsibilities include installation and commissioning of instruments at customer sites, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services, and delivering application support that enables customers to maximize the performance and value of their analytical systems. You will also provide customer training, technical consultation, and method optimization while working closely with Sales, Service, Marketing, and R&D teams to ensure successful implementation of our solutions and build long-term customer relationships as a trusted technical advisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

・Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Earth Science, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
・Experience with analytical instrumentation, preferably TIMS, MC-ICP-MS, ICP-MS, or other mass spectrometry systems
・Knowledge of isotope ratio analysis, trace element analysis, or inorganic analytical techniques is highly desirable
・Experience in instrument installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair is preferred
・Experience working in laboratory environments and developing or optimizing analytical methods is an advantage
・Experience working at nuclear-related organizations is highly desirable
・Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver customer training and technical presentations
・Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused mindset
・Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
・Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30–50%)
・Valid driver's license and passport required
・Proficiency in Japanese and the ability to communicate effectively in English are preferred
・Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion
・Flexible and adaptable to changing customer and business needs
・Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
