​As a member of the Finance team, the Finance Business Partner Japan, will support the Head of Finance – Japan, in managing Finance business partnering in Japan and working collaboratively with colleagues in the APAC region.

This role involves developing analysis, creating presentations to ensure alignment with both regional and global objectives. The Finance Business Partner Japan, plays a key role in enabling financial processes and delivering accurate and timely financial planning, reporting, and analysis in collaboration with the FP&A team.

Reporting to the Head of Finance Japan.

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities

FBP & Decision Support

  • Support the Head of Finance in preparing financial insights, materials, and recommendations for Japan business and leadership discussions.

  • Develop analyses to support business decision‑making (performance trends, risks, opportunities).

  • Prepare structured briefing packs, management presentations, and executive summaries.

Planning, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Support annual budget, forecast, and outlook cycles (Revenue, Opex, FTE, Capex, Transfer Price)

  • Perform variance analysis (actuals vs budget / forecast), identifying key drivers and issues

  • Consolidate inputs from markets and ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency

Performance & KPI Analysis

  • Track and analyze key financial and commercial KPIs.

  • Support preparation of dashboards and management reports.

  • Assist in identifying emerging risks and opportunities across markets.

Process & Data Management

  • Maintain high data quality across financial models, reports, and templates.

  • Support continuous improvement of reporting, automation, and standardization.

  • Coordinate timelines, submissions, and follow‑ups across markets and FP&A teams.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as a coordination point with country FBPs, FP&A, and finance operations teams

  • Act as a finance partner, providing financial expertise across various settings, including entity-wide projects, product launch preparation, unprofitable accounts, and ad-hoc initiatives

  • Support clear communication and follow‑up on agreed actions.

  • Build effective working relationships across Finance and Commercial teams

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other Business related discipline

  • CPA/CA or MBA a plus

  • 5+ years of experience in finance roles, including business partnering, financial planning, reporting, accounting operations, or related areas

  • Experience working in a large multinational environment

  • Experience supporting commercial functions is desirable (pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus)

  • Prior experience managing a small to medium-sized team is advantageous

  • Strong system and tools experience, including Microsoft Office (advanced Excel required), SAP S/4HANA, Hyperion Essbase, and Power BI

  • Native level Japanese with business to professional level English with clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; a collaborative team player who can engage at all levels

  • Strong analytical, numerical, and business/financial acumen, with the ability to interpret and clearly explain complex concepts

  • Excellent organization, project, and time management skills, including priority setting and process management

  • High learning agility and intellectual capability, with the ability to quickly adapt and deliver with speed and quality

  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working, with strong ownership, accountability, and ability to handle ambiguity
