Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of institutional and retail reporting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client focus.
  • Build organizational capability by developing talent, succession planning, performance management, and coaching future leaders.
  • Regularly assess team capacity and capability to support both strategic initiatives and business-as-usual activities.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all client reporting production activities and ensure reports are delivered accurately, consistently, and on time.
  • Maintain robust control frameworks and governance processes to support reporting quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of reporting workflows, controls, and operating models, including offshored and outsourced activities.
  • Monitor operational risks and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and resilience.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Client Reporting function, ensuring alignment with local, regional, and global business objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance reporting technology, data management capabilities, and reporting platforms.
  • Contribute actively to broader IDS, Operations, and Service Delivery transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Sales, Investments, Product, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Risk, and senior management.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the Japan Sales organization, engaging in constructive dialogue and collaborative problem-solving to support client service excellence and business growth.
  • Communicate reporting priorities, risks, and strategic initiatives effectively to local management and governance forums.

Global Collaboration

  • Partner closely with regional and global Client Reporting teams to ensure consistency of standards, controls, and best practices.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with overseas senior management and global stakeholders, representing Japan business priorities while aligning with regional and global strategies.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects involving multiple countries, teams, and stakeholders.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve reporting-related issues and risks.
  • Ensure appropriate management reporting and governance escalation for material incidents.
  • Support business continuity planning and operational resilience initiatives.

Qualifications:

Work Experience

  • Extensive experience in institutional client reporting, preferably supporting public pension funds, financial institutions, and asset management clients.
  • Proven experience leading reporting or operations-related teams in a complex business environment.
  • Management experience within a global organization, preferably in the asset management or broader investment management industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational change, operating model improvements, and reporting platform enhancements.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across local, regional, and global organizations.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with overseas senior management and global leadership teams.
  • Strong understanding of investment products including equities, fixed income, multi-asset, alternatives, and investment reporting methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of performance measurement, attribution, accounting principles, and relevant reporting regulations.

Education

  • University degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • CFA, CMA, CAIA, or similar industry qualification preferred.
