-Draft, review, negotiate and advise on the preparation of all contracts agreements and other legal documents.
-Offer counsel on legal and compliance issues.
-Work cross-functionally and provide guidance on and ensure
compliance with relevant laws and regulations applicable to the
businesses including any relevant industry codes and
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; Execute on the compliance strategy,
in order to drive adherence to Japan’s compliance requirements
and to minimize Company compliance risk in its Japan operations.
-Develop training plan, materials and deliver training to employees on legal, compliance, privacy, and other relevant topics.
-Manage staff.
-Manage the legal budget, approving expenditure and highlighting where there's a risk of exceeding budget
Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred
-Excellent legal academic credentials with law firm or in-house legal experience/training are required.
-Legal education from a Commonwealth jurisdiction would be an advantage.
-Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and fluent in written and spoken English at business level.
-License to practice law either in Japan or another jurisdiction is a plus.(Not must)
Minimum Years of Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required/Preferred
-At least 8-10 years of relevant legal experience since qualification - including a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
-Experience in healthcare related industry is desirable,
-Experience in compliance related work will be a plus;
-Experience working in multinational corporations outside Japan, ideally in a Western country for a multi-year period,
-Broad-based commercial and corporate experience, ideally advising leaders of business units or functions.
